On October 15-25, a series of meetings were held with members of the Women Peace Coalition and other groups, interested in the project of the Fund "Sukhumi" and the Women Peace Coalition.

The next phase of the project envisages advocacy campaigns in Zugdidi Municipality on the issues identified by the Fund "Sukhumi" in terms of the needs of IDPs and conflict affected women and girls.

The participants of the meetings presented ideas, after prioritizing of which the advocacy plans will be developed and advocacy campaigns will be launched.

Requirement: to carry out installation of external lighting and benches on sports grounds. Koki Women Initiative Group works to address the problems identified in the community. The group members discussed what changes need to be made to the advocacy plan and what resources to include.

Zugdidi Women Initiative Group also continues the advocacy process - the members of the group are trying to clear the area near the IDP settlement from thorns and are acting according to the prescribed plan.

At a regular meeting, members of Koki youth initiative group spoke about the project "Healthy Environment for a Better Future" - how the work was conducted, what results were achieved. This was their project debut and they are very pleased.

The cycle of informational meetings with the voters of Zugdidi municipality continues. The format is mixed again.

Through the efforts of the organization - a member of the women peacemaking coalition “Mercury”, representatives of civil society: internally displaced persons, residents of villages close to the conflict line, representatives of the private sector received information about the online platform introduced by the Fund “Sukhumi”.

The second meeting was held with the youth. They showed interest in the topic of elections and expressed a desire to help older people who are not aware of modern technologies, to use the platform.

Three meetings were held online with members of the initiative group of Zugdidi municipality.

During the meeting with Koki / Khurcha group, the issue of creating comfortable conditions for recreation and entertainment for the youth of Koki community and their families was raised. The group has developed and approved an advocacy plan and will begin an active campaign in this regard in September.

As a result of advocacy, Zugdidi women initiative group decided to clean the territory adjacent to the IDP settlement from weeds. The meeting was devoted to this issue.

The third meeting took place with Koki youth initiative group. The participants spoke about the project financed through the sub-grant of the Fund “Sukhumi. The project will promote to a healthy lifestyle.

Ingiri, Shamgona, Kakhati - residents of different ages living in these villages, IDPs and local citizens, were familiarized with the essence of the online application and with the rules for using it by the project facilitators. The participants of the meeting not only listened to the information about the online-vote-o-meter with interest, but also held a discussion on the topic of elections and socio-political life in general. They focused on the issues, on which, according to them, the political actors, participating in the elections, should sharpen their attention - uncontrolled migration, the integration of IDPs, local employment programs and other issues.

Koki, Orsantia, Zugdidi - informational meetings are actively held in these villages of Zugdidi municipality. Voters get acquainted with the online-vote-o-meter, with its essence and meaning. Due to the pandemic, meetings were held with small groups or individually. Citizens are expressing great interest in this innovative platform.

In order to get acquainted with the online application, meetings were held in IDP settlements in the former boarding school of the village Ingiri and Vektori of Zugdidi municipality.

From the side of the IDPs, nihilism and distrust to the elections were noticeable, they were explained that the application is politically neutral. According to them, they never have full information about the programs of political parties, so such application is interesting for them.

Due to the pandemic, informational meetings were held with a limited number of participants in Zugdidi Municipality: IDPs and local citizens of the villages Shamgona and Ingiri and various settlements of the city. The aim of the meeting – familiarization with the online platform – Voters’ Advice Application, which makes the pre-election programs visible and shows the citizen which political entity is closest to his position. The participants of the meeting expressed different attitudes towards the topic of elections, but they were interested in the idea of ​​the application.

 

Ordinary meeting was held with women of different ages in the community of Koki (Zugdidi municipality) in order to familiarize themselves with the "Vote-O-Meter - Voters’ Advise Application".

The participants got acquainted with the essence of the "Vote-O-Meter", as well as with the instructions for filling out the questionnaire. They were particularly interested in the issues of environmental protection, food security and women's participation in budget processes.

Voters have a great interest towards the positions recorded by local political entities on the "Vote-O-Meter" platform.

During the meeting of Zugdidi women initiative group and Koki/Khurcha women's group (Zugdidi municipality), they discussed the problems that were revealed by the research of gender needs assessment, conducted in the municipality. The women's groups have selected the most actual issues and have planned an advocacy campaign to be carried out together with the local government.

The main issue at the meeting of the youth initiative group of the village Koki (Zugdidi municipality), was to improve the project proposal. During the training, held in Kutaisi, young people studied how to turn an interesting idea into a project. The result is already observed: they have prepared two projects, which will soon be considered by a special commission
