Mobilization meetings in March

 

In March 33 mobilization meetings were held in 5 cities (Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Poti and Senaki) and in the villages of Zugdidi Municipallity – Khurcha and Koki.

The topic of the meeting was a week of women solidarity. The meeting underlined the problems of women, mainly their small amount in politics, in the process of decision making. Meeting participants spoke also about frequent facts of famicid.

It was mentioned that respect to woman should be expressed during whole year – respecting their rights, political strengthening and activation.

Presentation in Tskaltubo

  

The fund “Sukhumi” started a project “Improves conditions for IDP communities”. Project areal – Tskaltubo Municipality.

Informational meeting and presentation of the project was held in the Conference Hall of Tskaltubo Sakrebulo.

In frames of the project there were held:

- Equipping of 3 kindergartens of Tskhaltubo municipality (№1, №2 and Kopitnari) with the inventory.

- Informal education for IDP communities

- Creation of IDP resource center

- Submission of IDP problems in local government.

The meeting participants - representatives of the local self-government – got interested in the project and expressed willingness for future cooperation.

Informational meeting in Kutasisi

  

Assistant of the fund “Sukhumi” conducted informational meeting in one of the collective centers of Kutaisi. Meeting participants learned about news in social programs and it seemed to be interesting and useful for them. The meeting discussed solution of different  problems.

Assistant also visited the meeting of the club of Jewish women. The main goal of the club – support of the relationship between each other, spread information, assist in solution of different problems. Assistant of the fund “Sukhumi” familiarized them with the work of the fund  - some of theme were invited to the meeting of the Club of Voter Women in order to involve representatives of ethnical minority in the work and process of advocating the problem.

Presentation of the brochure in Tskaltubo

 

In the conference hall of Tskatlubo Sakrbulo there gathered representatives of different society levels. For them, there was held the presentation of the publication of Fund "Sukhumi" - "Assessment of women's human security in Western Georgia."

During the discussion, participants from different discussed human dangers and the ways out. Most of the recommendations dealt with threats in schools, pre-schools, as well as - health, women's rights, food security.

The participants believe that the urgency of the issue will interest anyone. It is necessary to continue the discussion and development of recommendations, together with representatives of the community Government units should be involved in raising the level of security more actively.

Issues of human security in the conflict zone

 

Human threats are perceived differently in the village Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality), which is on the border with Abkhazia. This idea was strengthened at the round table, which was attended by women activists from the villages Koki Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) and Nayui96evi (Gali Municipality).

The meeting began with a presentation of the research of the fund "Sukhumi", which has been incorporated in a special publication.

Then, participants heard recommendations from from other towns. Women with special emotion were talking about social issues, health issues.

To their opinion, human threats are exacerbated in the villages of the conflict zone, and all parts of society must be mobilized to improve security level.
