Network of Gender Advisory Councils of Georgia was created

In Batumi, at a joint forum 74 people gathered, who represented the members of the Gender Advisory Councils (GAC) of Kutaisi, Senaki, Ozurgeti, Batumi and representatives of the local authorities of these cities and the Fund "Sukhumi".
It was a summary of two years activities of two projects of the Fund "Sukhumi". In frames of these projects were created GACs in four cities of Georgia with the support of Gender Equality Fund, UN Women and the US State Department.
Presentation of the work done, implementated projects, results and achievements, exchange of experience, assessment of local gender needs, objectives and activities of the GAC, prospects for the future, project ideas and initiatives, informal relations ...
In short, these two days in Batumi were interesting and important ...
The most important thing is that the effectiveness of GACs and their influence on the formation of local gender policies was clearly revealed.
At the end of the meeting it was signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation and creation of Gender Advisory Councils network in Georgia.
There are 4 GACs in this network for the given period…

Meetings on actual issues

   
On June 22 an informational meeting was held with the persons with disabilities. Conversation touched actual topics for them. It was mentioned the round-table, organized by the fund “Sukhumi”, where together with representatives of different governmental structures, there were reviewed programs of city budget.
On June 24 they together with representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” attended ordinary meeting of Sakrebulo, for familiarizing with the processes taken place in the city and received information about the issues discussed and proved by the local self-government.

 

GAC – experience, challenges, perspectives

  
On June 18, an ordinary meeting of Batumi GAC, once again touched the results of conducted research of gender needs and discussed concrete suggestions and recommendations.
The meeting announced the youth project of the GAC “Youth for non-violent society”. In frames of the project first demonstrative performances with participation of 6 schools were shown. The meeting also discussed other ideas, which will be supported by the local self-government.
Participation of the members of Ozurgeti GAC, showed their interesting experience and successful projects. It was mentioned that experience exchange system will promote to more interesting and multilateral work of the GAC.

Mobilization meetings in towns and villages

Mobilization meetings of June were held in Kutyaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Poti and Senaki also in the villages: Ternali (Tskaltubo Municipality), Khorshi (Senaki Municipality), Khurcha and Koki (Zugdidi Municipality).
The cicle of the meetings was devoted to the international Day of Children’s Protection and touched international convention of the children and abrogation of their rights in Georgia.
The parents talked about relation with the children, problems raised while communication with them and the ways of their solution.
The meetings were held in collective centers for the IDPs and local population.

About budget programs of the city – round table

On June 18, the fund “Sukhumi” organized round table in the Center of Democratic Engagement of Kutaisi. The meeting was attended by the people with disabilities, representatives of the City Hall and Sakrebulo on social and health care issues, also representatives of social agency. They spoke about budget programs, answered the questions of participants.

As the beneficiaries mentioned, they received interesting nd necessary information.
