TV Company “Rioni” prepared and broadcasted the TV story, regarding the project of the fund “Sukhumi”: “Studying the experience of Visegrad countries at local level for advocacy of equal, inclusive and democratic governance”. There were held meetings with representatives of all twelve municipalities of Imereti aiming at exchange of information and experience.

Representative of the fund “Sukhumi” familiarized the audience the goals and objectives of the project, its importance at local level for establishment of gender policy, touched the role of municipal gender equality councils and civil participation, as effective instrument for establishment of gender equality.

The representative of international organization PIN (people in need) spoke about social projects, implemented in cooperation with local government and 4 partner organizations and fund “Sukhumi” among them. The audience received information about “civil budget” projects in several municipalities of Georgia, which is introduction of European – Czech practice and promotes to implementation of real self-government.

Monthly electronic informational bulletin was issued in frames of the project “Strengthening of Women’s Rights in Western Georgia”. It reflects the results of the work carried out in September.
Bulletin describes the work of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and Khurcha Women Support Centers.

TV company "Egrisi" often aires stories about the work of Senaki Gender Advisory Council and publishes information in the newspaper "Kolkheti".
Despite the small number of media sources, Senaki journalists actively cover gender issues.
On May 6 regular individual meetings were held with journalists and representative for public relations of Gamgeoba service. They got acquainted with the activities of the GAC at this stage and talked about their mission in terms of local gender policies.

The story in the air of “Dzveli Kalaki” tells about network meeting of Gender Advisory Councils (GACs) of Kutaisi, Senaki and Ozurgeti. The meeting discussed results, achieved in frames of the project. It was mentioned that they have reached the main goal – it was implemented legislative change and legalization of gender councils at local level.

As the GAC members mention, in these three cities, there is a good background for establishing gender prospects and it will be an example for other municipalities. as for the GAC members, they are ready to share their experience with colleagues from other self-governments.

On August 25, in the gender media center of Ozurgeti (in the office of “Guria News”) representative of the Fund “Sukhumi” met the representatives of local media, the meeting was attended by deputy of chairperson of the GAC, member of Sakrebulo – Lali Sichinava. The topic of conversation was gender budget.
It was mentioned that journalists should pay more attention to the process of planning local budget, make gender stresses.
In order to give the society correct information regarding gender issues, gender education of the journalists is important. The meeting announced initiative – to conduct training on these issues. It was decided – in the beginning of September fund “Sukhumi” and Ozurgeti Gender Media Center will organize training with participation of representatives of Ozurgeti, Kutaisi and Senaki media.

What is the role of women in representative bodies, whether the government supports initiative of NGOs - to determine the gender quotas at the level of legislation. Representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” and the GAC fixed their attitude to the issue.
As the chairman of the gender equality council of the Parliament Manana Koyui96hidze noted gender quotas have both supporters and opponents. To her opinion, the awareness of positive aspects of the quota in parliament, political parties, community and need to reach a consensus it should be recognized correctly. Although the reality that Georgia is on the 112 th place out of 150 in women's representation, is not acceptable. It was evident from the interviews of other members of Parliament.

At the end of the meeting TV “Guria” made an interview for the story.
And before that Ozurgeti journalists took part in the meeting of the GAC, which was devoted to the results of the research of local gender needs.
Research is important for the journalists as on the basis of it, recommendations will be drafted, which will be reflected in the budget in future.
Representatives of media will observe the whole process from recommendations of the GAC to concrete item of the local budget.

What is the official statistics in the country in terms of political participation of women, why women are not on responsible positions, how to promote their political participation - guests of the TV program, members of Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council (GAC) spoke about the past political way, the difficulties, positive sides, fruitful cooperation of GAC and local government, in particular - to increase women participation.

The conversation touched the extraordinary elections to be held in the Ozurgeti. In the village Nasakirali female candidate is running elections, representing political party "Georgian Dream".

According to the position of the program guests, it is not easy to be a majoritarian candidate, but inclusion of women is very interesting and important. Women are more sensitive about social issues.

"If we say that women should be presented in politics, we must give a chance to the presented women - a teacher and destroy the myth that the Muslim community will not choose a woman."

First bulletin of the year summarized the results of the activities in frames of the project “Strengthening of Women’s Rights in Western Georgia”.

Despite of New Year days, all activities were held, concrete changes were achieved and lives of several women were improved.
