Political activity of women - a story on an actual topic

 

 

How important is the increase in women's representation in decision-making positions? What will change with the political activity of women? What is the spirit of the society and is it necessary to support women leaders?

On these issues, the participants of a large-scale conference held in Kutaisi on June 21 on "Women's participation in politics - democracy in action" shared information with the journalists. The purpose of the conference is to summarize the results of the annual work of the Clubs of Voter Women of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Khobi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Batumi and the development of a strategy for the future.

Introduction of gender policy, civil participation and other issues – TV story in “Rioni”

TV Company “Rioni” prepared and broadcasted the TV story, regarding the project of the fund “Sukhumi”: “Studying the experience of Visegrad countries at local level for advocacy of equal, inclusive and democratic governance”. There were held meetings with representatives of all twelve municipalities of Imereti aiming at exchange of information and experience.

Representative of the fund “Sukhumi” familiarized the audience the goals and objectives of the project, its importance at local level for establishment of gender policy, touched the role of municipal gender equality councils and civil participation, as effective instrument for establishment of gender equality.

The representative of international organization PIN (people in need) spoke about social projects, implemented in cooperation with local government and 4 partner organizations and fund “Sukhumi” among them. The audience received information about “civil budget” projects in several municipalities of Georgia, which is introduction of European – Czech practice and promotes to implementation of real self-government.

Program on TV "Rioni"

On May 10, a program was aired on the radio “Rioni”, in which the director of the project "People in Need", member of the initiative group of Khoni IDPs and mobilizer of the Women's Support Center of the Fund "Sukhumi" participated. The conversation touched the attitude of IDPs to the project reform, as well as the problems of IDPs and the impact of reform on their families.

About the first visible results - in the radio program

On the air of the radio "Rioni" a program was held within the framework of the project "Studying the experience of the Visegrad to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic governance at the local level". The purpose of the program is to inform the societies about the project, to reveal the first visible results.

The participants of the program - the project leaders, experts - touched the civil participation in local governance, the importance of introducing gender approaches in practice. Summarizing the work done within the project - getting acquainted with Czech experience in terms of introducing civil involvement, meeting with students from Kutaisi universities - where the visions and aspirations of young people, to participate in the implementation of programs important for society were recorded.

It was also announced a meeting with the Imereti municipalities planned for the near future, where the Georgian and European practices on the implementation of "civil budgets" will be exchanged.

Sharing experience of V4on in TV "Rioni"

 

A new partnership project was launched, supported by the Visegrad Fund V 4. Representatives of the Fund "Sukhumi" shared this information on TV "Rioni" with the audience of Western Georgia: impressions from the first meeting, the training course in Prague (Czech Republic) with all partners of the project, about the experience of 9 experts who told about their countries in terms of gender mainstreaming at the local level, about the opportunity to visit and get to know one of the municipalities - Prague 10.
