There are interesting innovations in the activities of Senaki youth group. The group members will try to establish interaction with the youth through a new project. The project contains various activities. Youth, using their messages will tell the public about their interests.

The women initiative group will try to advocate an urgent problem - the safe movement of residents at the crossroads in the "military town". The members of the group, together with the self-government, will try to advocate this problem at the central level.

At the initiative of the Fund "Sukhumi" representatives of local referral entities:  members of Gender Equality Council, representatives of local self-government and the police gathered at the round table in Senaki. There was a presentation of a research on monitoring of services for victims of violence, conducted by the Fund "Sukhumi".

At the meeting, there was a conversation regarding the situation in the municipality in terms of violence, prevention of violence against women / domestic violence and victims’ protection. The emphasis was placed on cooperation with local structures.

The Women Initiative Group of the Fund "Sukhumi" is working on an advocacy plan in Senaki. Participants discussed the priority of the problems and finally stopped at the topical problem.

According to the content of the problem, group members will try to advocate the problem at local as well as at central levels.

Senaki Youth Initiative Group is involved in the working process, the participants are working on a grant project. Each item in the working versions of the projects was discussed together and the details were clarified. The working process will continue until the project is submitted.

Meetings of women and youth initiative groups were held in Senaki municipality. The young people discussed civic activism. According to the participants, young people have initiatives, ideas, and need support for their implementation. This will contribute to the development of civic activism.

The women's initiative group listened to the results of the study "Assessment of the quality of human security and gender needs of the population" conducted in Senaki. Participants discussed what kind of threats do the women feel most in concrete component of human security, what are the most actual problems for them, what are the existing threats. They will try to advocate the problems identified as a result of the research.

The mobilizers of the Women Support Centers held information meetings in Senaki, Samtredia, Tsalenjikha, Chokhatauri and Tkibuli municipalities.

Women – meeting participants in different communities listened to information about victim assistance services, as well as about legal mechanisms, responsible for cases of violence. During the meetings, it is often necessary to record stories that require a response. Based on specific cases, a psychologist and a lawyer of the Fund "Sukhumi" are involved in the response process.

The Fund "Sukhumi" has 10 Women Support Centers in Terjola, Vani, Tkibuli, Bagdati, Chokhatauri, Samtredia, Kobuleti, Zugdidi, Senaki, Tsalenjikha municipalities. A two-day workshop was held for the updated staff of mobilizers. All discussed topics were necessary and relevant: selecting target groups, working with the audience, identifying problems, filling in a victim questionnaire and responding to it, conducting advocacy campaign, legal mechanisms for victim support, working with local governments, municipal programs and state services for violence prevention and victim assistance, informing, self-presentation, facilitation and moderation.

“The work of the mobilizer seemed difficult to me, but now I already know how to go step by step. The workshop showed me the sequence of the process”, mentioned one of the mobilizers at the end of the workshop.

The project of the Fund “Sukhumi” - "Strengthening the Women's Rights in Western Georgia" is focused on the following issues: - protecting women's rights, strengthening the families, preventing domestic violence and supporting victims, responding to gender problems through cooperation with local governments.

Project presentations have been already held in Terjola, Senaki and Bagdati municipalities. The meetings were attended by representatives of local governments, civil activists. The prospects of responding to the problem of domestic violence and cooperation were highlighted.

The representatives of the municipalities underlined that prevention of domestic violence is the sphere of ​​their interest and they are ready to cooperate with the Fund "Sukhumi".

- What does early conflict prevention mean, how to react according to the components of human security, what kind of dangers do the young people feel - these and other questions, using thematic exercises, were discussed with Senaki youth group.

According to young participants, low level of education, the problem of employment, the migration of women, and the social background is dangerous. In their opinion, every person perceives danger differently, and the response mechanism should also be appropriate.

The second meeting was also devoted to this topic - with members of the women initiative group: what is the early conflicts prevention system and how important is its application in a gender prism. Group members will take part in the research - they learned about the techniques and skills of conducting focus groups and in-depth interviews.

“Strengthening the Women’s Rights in Western Georgia” - Fund “Sukhumi” has started a new stage of this project… with changes, new directions.

The project area - four regions of Western Georgia: Imereti, Samegrelo, Guria and Ajara. The work will be carried out in the following 10 municipalities: Vani, Bagdati, Samtredia, Tkibuli, Terjola, Senaki, Tsalenjikha, Zugdidi, Chokhatauri, Kobuleti.

One of the innovations is that, for the first time, within the framework of the project, Women Support Centers are being created in Vani, Bagdati, Samtredia, Tkibuli and Chokhatauri.

The Fund "Sukhumi" has its own representatives who will work locally to strengthen women and protect their rights, they will try to advocate and solve problems through a gender-responsive system. The aim of the project is prevention of domestic violence in cooperation and coordination with local governments.

The Fund "Sukhumi", with participation of members of Gender Equality Council of Sanaki municipality, held a round table on: “Strengthening the role and functions of the Gender Equality Council in the process of introducing local gender policy”.

The meeting discussed the strategy and various initiatives that will give more effect to the work of the Gender Equality Council. Particular attention was paid to planning of the existing resources for implementation of the plan for 2022, as well as to the issue of maximum involvement of the units responsible for the implementation of the plan.
