The meeting of the Women Initiative Group of the Fund "Sukhumi" was held in the village  Kakhati (Zugdidi municipality). Participants highlighted problems that could cause the development of conflict in society. Most issues relate to infrastructural and economical spheres. Following months a research will be conducted in the villages along the conflict-dividing line to determine the scope and extent of women's rights violation.

Women initiative groups of the Fund “Sukhumi” conducted monitoring on the issue of domestic violence. The aim of monitoring is the use of GREWS, identification and minimization of risks that cause conflicts in society.

The first stage of monitoring was carried out from October 10 to October 25. The survey was conducted by methods of quantitative and qualitative research: in the format of questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Information was collected on a pre-elaborated questionnaire.

5 field monitors were involved in monitoring. Surveys were conducted in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo and villages located on conflict dividing line: Khurcha, Koki, Ganmukhuri, Orsantia, Shamgona (Zugdidi municipality) and Pakhulani, Tskoushi (Tsalenjikha municipality).

Fund "Sukhumi" is actively working to implement a gender-oriented system of early conflict prevention in different locations of Western Georgia: Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Zugdidi, the village near the conflict line - Khurcha, Koki, Ganmukhuri, Orsantia, Shamgona, Pakhulani, Tskhoushi. A group of monitors collects weekly information in the fields. After the data systematization through analyzing the received information, conflict situations will be diagnosed and gender risks will be predicted.

Kutaisi Women’s Initiative Group held informational meetings in different communities. The moderator explained what is the connection between unresolved problems and development of conflict, and how important is their solution at an early stage.

The meeting participants identified social and infrastructural problems that are relevant in their village, and contain the risks of conflict development.

The following problems were highlighted: faulty drainage system and water in the basement, extra noise from the company, located near the settlement, the problem of the roof. After analyzing the problems, the response will begin.

The Women's Initiative Group of Khurcha is actively working on early prevention of conflicts existing in society. Khurcha (Zugdidi municipality), as a village located near the conflict line, is particularly sensitive in terms of the development of social conflicts.

Through informational meetings and advocacy of problems, the initiative group tries to identify conflict situations and achieve prevention at an early stage. The process of advocating problems is carried out in cooperation with local government structures. 

The problems existing in the society that concern the safety of women in parallel contain the risks of conflict development. The women's initiative group of Tskaltubo is actively working to advocate for such problems in order to reduce the risks of conflict development.

With this aim, planned informational meetings were held in May with various groups. Women especially feel the danger of conflict, so the information they received about community issues is very important. After diagnosing conflicts, the group is working on early conflict prevention.

Members of Kutaisi Women's Initiative Group actively conduct informational meetings. The public is informed on the following issues: social problems and conflicts, early prevention of conflicts using the GREWS elements(Gender Responsive Early Warning System), the role of civil society.

These meetings are important in terms of informing. Participants analyze that their problems may cause conflicts, therefore, timely inclusion and reduction of conflict risk is necessary.

In parallel with the information, the Women's Initiative Group, together with the local authorities, is working on solving the identified problems.

Members of Tskaltubo Women's Initiative Group are actively working to solve social problems that may cause conflict in society.

The initiative group has already passed two stages: data collection and systematization. At this stage, the group, together with representatives of local structures, is considering the problem in order to reduce the risks of conflict development.

“Gender Responsive Early Warning System” - using this system, the Women's Initiative Group of the village Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) actively works on advocacy of problems that require timely response.

Members of the group cooperate with local authorities, to whom this problem directly concerns. On the basis of the action plan, information is being systematically filled in and the public is informed on these issues.

During the informational meeting of Kutaisi Women Initiative Group, the participants listened to information about the problems advocated with the inclusion of local government.

- Most conflicts are developed on the background of social problems. The number of problems and the number of resolved conflicts are the same, and this will contribute to the creation of a peaceful society was mentioned at the meeting.
