In the air of Radio “Freedom” showed a story, which tells about youth project of Batumi Gender Advisory Council (GAC).
The story underlines actuality of the issue: initiating public discussion – establishment of non-violent consciousness and ruining stereotypes, ensuring healthy communications, which is envisaged by the project, answers the challenges, existing in society.
Necessity of gender educational work with young people was mentioned by the members of Ozurgeti GAC, who attended the meeting in Batumi.
How should be the GAC involved in solution of problematic issues of society, what strategy should be defined for collaboration with self-government – members of Batumi and Ozurgeti GACs speak about these issues in the program.

What do Georgian politicians and experts, representatives of public sector think about quoting by the gender side, what legislative regulations are essential for solution of this issue. The story in TV “Rioni” refers to this issue and shares international experience.
As the representatives of Kutaisi Gender Advisory council mention, the effective will be to make a step from words to the action. There was an interesting fact in Georgia in this direction – a women became a head of one of the most important structure – Ministry of defense. This issue is positively evaluated from the side of not only her team members, but also opposition, politologists, civil sector representatives.
It is noticeable that only men were chosen as respondents.

In the air of TV Company “Egrisi” there was aired a story regarding the project of Senaki Gender Advisory Council “Prevention of domestic violence in Senaki Municipality”. The story reflects the activities in frames of the project, organizational meeting with representatives of Governor of  Senaki Municipality, training for thrainers on the issue of gender and domestic violence, informational meetings, conducted by the young people.

“Gender News” of the Radio “Freedom” tells about creation of GAC networks in Batumi. The meeting was held on June 29-30.
As it was aired in the story, the network joins Btumi, Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Senaki GACs, which actively cooperate with self-governments for establishment of gender policy on local level.
Chairperson of Ozurgeti GAC – Lela Natsvaladze mentioned that the network is based on the experience of four municipalities, also on political will from the side of self-governemnt. The following phase was common strategy and joint projects.
Members of self-government of Senaki gave high evaluation to the projects, which were implemented y the GAC and expressed a hope that network will give high motivation to social activities.
“Democracy will not be developed without our inclusion. The GAC worked on common strategy, underlined local problems and defined the ways of collaboration eith self-government and other institutions for their solution”, - mentioned Meri Gelashvili, coordibator of the project of the Fund “Sukhumi”.
“We are glad that the legislative act, which was submitted to Parliament and which should carry out institutionalization of local gender councils, is a good practical illustration as the GACs, created by the fund “Sukhumi”, which has lots of vivid results in its “active”- was mentioned in the story.

The radio “Dzveli Kalali” there was aired a story which told the audience about activity of Kutaisi GAC.

It was mentioned that the work of GAC is in the interesting phase: the research local civil groups needs was finished. There were revealed lots of interesting issues of different groups of women, youth, socially unprotected people, people with disabilities. The GAC has to envisage interests of these groups in the budget in cooperation with self-government. 

The story aired information about youth project implemented by the GAC with financial support of the fund “Sukhumi” and Kutaisi City Hall. Project participants poke about the project activities and recommendations, prepared by the different youth groups.

Fund “Sukhumi” organized a work-shop for the staff of kindergartens on: “Gender, gender roles, gender education in pre-school premises”. The work-shop was interesting for the participants and they got motivated to make changes in their working process. Journalists of the TV “Rioni” prepared a story on this concrete issue.

Training on “Analysis of Georgian – Abkhazian conflict, gender aspects of post-conflict regulation (including creative methods)”.
The story, prepared by the journalists of TV “Rioni”, tells the audience about this interesting and strange training, about participants and once again underlines peacekeeping vision of Georgian society.
The training was held in frames of joint Georgian – Abkhazian project “Strengthening of women’s voices on the level of decision making” (donor: federal department of foreign affairs of Switzerland).

On September 26 and 29, three blocks of “Gender News” were devoted to the results of the work of Batumi GAC.
By the position of the council, in future budget of the city there must be reflected recommendations, elaborated as a results of the research. There was a conversation regarding trainings with self-government staff, which covered the issues of gender education, including the most important challenge – discrimination by gender point of view and different types of violence. There were also revealed the mechanisms against domestic violence and possibilities and responsibility of self-government for problem solution.

A new partnership project was launched, supported by the Visegrad Fund V 4. Representatives of the Fund "Sukhumi" shared this information on TV "Rioni" with the audience of Western Georgia: impressions from the first meeting, the training course in Prague (Czech Republic) with all partners of the project, about the experience of 9 experts who told about their countries in terms of gender mainstreaming at the local level, about the opportunity to visit and get to know one of the municipalities - Prague 10.

There were several issues touched in the program – common strategy of the GAC, main directions of the work regarding establishment of gender policy in gender budgeting on the local level. Assistants of the project summarized results of project year, spoke about results and challenges.
It was mentioned that self-government of Kutaisi, Senaki and Ozurgeti are more and more understanding towards the GAC, support their initiatives.
Chairperson of OzurgetiGAC, member of Sakrebulo – Lela Natsvaladze mentioned support of self-government not only on policy level, but in practice too, as a result Ozurgeti budget was announced as the most gender budget from the side of Parliament gender council. Local self-government considers it as a result of collaboration with the GAC.
Participants mentioned that creation of the GAC network is improved gender prospects and exchange of experience. Particular attention was paid to cooperation with parliament . It was mentioned that in nearest future the meeting will be held and now the issues joint activities are defined between the GAC network and Gender Council of the Parliament.
