Kutaisi WSC devoted a project to the campaign against gender violence, in frames of which there was taken a film – story. The film shows the work of WSC, about a problem of violence and ways of solution.

At the end of the project there was held a presentation, where the film-story was shown. There were invited the members of Gender Advisory Council, activists of the fund “Sukhumi”, representatives of partner NGOs and mass-media.

Active discussion showed actuality of the problem and a will of each person to do more for violence prevention.

Academy of public development conducted presentation of the project: “promotion of pre-school educational service” in the conference-hall of Batumi University of Art. The project is funded by the fund “Sukhumi” and Batumi City Hall and serves to strengthening of the work of the teachers with parents of children, solution of psychological, sanitarian and other issues, development of scientific skills and healthy attitude to the environment.
In frames of the project there will be held trainings, seminars, consultative meetings, there will be organized “eco corner” and will start functioning the parents’ club, which will promote to maximal involvement of the parents in the process of pre-school education.
There was signed a memorandum between, “public development academy”, “Unity of Batumi kindergartens” and Batumi Gender Advisory Council, the aim of which is collaboration in successful implementation of the reforms of educational sphere, especially in the spheres of pre-school and informal education.
The project was positively evaluated by the chairpersons of Batumi kindergarten unity.

 

 

In the conference hall of Tskatlubo Sakrbulo there gathered representatives of different society levels. For them, there was held the presentation of the publication of Fund "Sukhumi" - "Assessment of women's human security in Western Georgia."

During the discussion, participants from different discussed human dangers and the ways out. Most of the recommendations dealt with threats in schools, pre-schools, as well as - health, women's rights, food security.

The participants believe that the urgency of the issue will interest anyone. It is necessary to continue the discussion and development of recommendations, together with representatives of the community Government units should be involved in raising the level of security more actively.

In the WSC of Poti there was held a presentation of the publication of the fund “Sukhumi” – “Evaluation of Women Human Security Level in Western Georgia”.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of local self-government, women activists.

After presentation there was a discussion. Participants mainly made stressed on social issues, as they consider that, there are serious problems in this sphere. Representatives of local self-government spoke about the programs, which are implemented from the local budget. The participants got interested by the benefits regarding mothers of many children.

By the common opinion of participants, discussion of similar issues together with representatives of local government will raise level of collaboration and will promote to solution of the problem.

Batumi Public Library hosted a presentation of the book of writer and public figure, Professor Ramaz Surmanidze "Fundamentals of the age-sex education of children and adolescents." The book was published with the financial support of the Fund "Sukhumi". The event was opened by the Director of the library Gennady Makharadze, who congratulated Mr. Ramaz with the publication of the 71st book.

Opinions about the book were expressed by: Professor Akaki Beridze, reviewers - Professor Shorena Vashadze and Doctor of Education Marina Gurgenidze, representative of the Fund "Sukhumi" Natia Kikvadze, chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara Autonomous Republic Avtandil Beridze, member of the City Council of Batumi Nato Zoidze poet Tsisana Antadze, writer Anna Dundua. Female vocal ensemble "Batumi" performed songs in the Batumi center of culture.

At the end of the meeting Ramaz Surmanidze responded to questions.

On January 31 in the conference hall of Senaki Sakrebulo, there was held presentation of GAC project results “Prevention of domestic violence in Senaki Municipality” and “With new consciousness to building non-violent society”. The presentation was attended by representative and deputy of Sakrebulo chairperson, members of Sakrebulo, representatives of city hall, chairperson of the unity of preschool educational premises, teachers of kindergartens, GAC members.

Sakrebulo officials gave a positive assessment to the projects. They hope that the Gender Equality Council, which will be established in Sakrebulo, according to adopted legislative amendment will continue to work in the same direction and will be no less active than the Gender Advisory Council.

At this stage, the GAC collaborates with the Club of Women Voters, which is active in Senaki in gender terms.

In the format of the round table, there was held a presentation of expert research in Tbilisi. It was attended by the chairperson of the fund “Sukhumi” Alla Gamakharia. The presentation was attended by the members of government of Abkhazian Autonomous Republic, international organizations and NGOs.

 

An expert research on the accessibility of social services commissioned by the Czech non-profit organization PeopleInNeed was carried out in the municipalities of Khoni, Tkibuli, Gori and Zugdidi.

The presentation touched upon the review of the system of social services and challenges both at the central and local levels. The meeting briefly reviewed the draft reform on IDPs, highlighted the positive and negative aspects of the reform.

The social project of the PIN is implemented with the financing of the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

In the conference hall of Khoni Municipality there was held a presentation of publication of the fund “Sukhumi” – “Evaluation of Women Human Security Level in Western Georgia”.

After familiarizing with the results of the research, participants – representatives of different structures heard recommendations, elaborated in different cities. The stress was made on suggestions of Khoni group.

During the discussion the conversation touched components of safe life of society. By the opinion of participants, raising of women security level should start by consolidation of society and it is necessary that responsibility should be taken by the structures, which can have an impact on positive changes.

On December 7, a presentation of a new research of the fund “Sukhumi” - "Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, rethinking approaches to the conflict settlement and new vectors for its transformation" was held in the hotel "Courtyard Marriott" in Tbilisi.

The presentation was attended by representatives of local and international organizations, embassies accredited in the country, government agencies, the Ombudsman's Office, academic circles.

The author of the study, Ekaterina Gamakharia, presented to the participants of the meeting the main conclusions and recommendations made as a result of the research. Then there were interesting discussions - it was the continuation of the feedback received as a result of acquaintance of this work with the broad circles of society. Another dialogue was held, which is very important for the transformation of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.

  

On May 18 in the conference hall of Tskaltubo Gamgeoba, there was held a presentation of the project results: “Improving conditions of IDP communities”.

The presentation was attended by the representatives of local government.

Young IDPs spoke about workshops conducted in frames of the project and problems revealed in collective centers. Representatives of local self-government expressed readiness to carry out monitoring, study the problems and find ways of their solution.
