Workshops (86)

Workshop - is an educational activity (like seminars, courses), where the participants gain knowledge independently. Workshops are held on different topics with women and young people. Workshops are often conducted by the participants themselves.

Gender-based violence and family conflicts-on these issues, interesting discussions took place with women at workshops in Tskaltubo, Zugdidi and Khoni.

Most agree with the view that violence often takes place in families where there is no gender equality, where a woman does not have the opportunity for self-fulfillment and she constantly depends on her husband's choice.

Particularly interesting was the meeting in the village of Ganmukhuri (Zugdidi municipality), where the Fund "Sukhumi" came for the first time. The majority of participants expressed a desire for cooperation, since the topic of violence is their priority.

-Why does the society does not sympathize with the victim? What should each of us do for the prevention of violence - on these topics there were held workshops on conflict with women's groups in Senaki, Kutaisi and Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality).

- The public has deficit of solidarity. We often see family conflicts, but stay silent, because it does not concern us. We rarely think about what could happen to our loved ones and we can not help.

Most participants believe that social cohesion is very important. If the victim is convinced that the public will support her, that she will be protected by the state, the law, she will better overcome the obstacles.

Participants were informed about the campaign of 16 Active Days Against Violence, which begins on 25 November. Women are willing to actively join the campaign and to express solidarity against violence.

On the background of interesting discussions there were held workshops on conflict with women's groups in Senaki, Tskaltubo and village Kukhi (Khoni municipality). The discussed topic: "Migration of women, reasons of family conflicts and management mechanisms" aroused interest of the participants.

It turned out that the issue of migration is quite actual as it regards many families. Often the reason of family conflict is a small income, and women are looking for jobs abroad. But there are cases when the husbands spent money received from wives for alcohol and then new conflicts starts. It seems to be a vicious circle from which it is difficult to get out. By the opinions of participants responsibility of the state should be raised. Women need more support in employment, to prevent the problem.

The participants presented recommendations for the individual components. It was developed a general guidelines for the relevant authorities both at local and central levels.
Of particular interest was the topic of human security in the workshop, held in the auditorium of Sakrebulo of Khoni Municipality. The diverse audience has developed important recommendations.
Workshop held in Women's Support Centre of Tskhaltubo was also too important. The recommendations showed that the improvement of security level in terms of gender should be a priority for the state, as creation of a safe environment for women is the guarantor of a stable, healthy future.

During the workshops in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo and Poti, the women discussed the issue of migration. It appeared that family members and relative of some participants are abroad and their comments were especially emotional.
-They should not go and live their children, - it is not correct to evaluate women-migrants on the background of unemployment in Georgia – was mentioned on the meeting.
Most part of the discussion was devoted to the issue of helping children, who have serious problems. Mothers have great responsibility. They financially support family and take care of children.
It was mentioned that similar discussions give possibility of correct analysis of the situation and management of situation.

Ordinary workshops were held with the women in conflict management. The activities were held in frames of the campaign “16 active days against violation towards the women”. Majority of participants consider that problem of violence is very actual in Georgia and whole society must unite against it.
We know that domestic conflict continue for years, know that nothing changes in these families for better, but we keep silence, because we have lack of solidarity, we do not think that tomorrow someone, close to us, can appear in such a situation and we will bot be able to help them.
These were the opinions of women, who took part in workshops of conflictology. They think that if the woman has much information, she is much stronger and can manage conflicts in family, but she must be sure that will be supported from the side of society.
The workshops were held in Poti, Tskaltubo, Senaki – 31 women took part in them.

As far as we know ourselves, what is familiar about inner, personal conflicts, how do we behave or how do our negative emotions influence on dynamics of domestic conflicts – these and other issues were discussed by the group of women on work-shops, conducted in Tskaltubo, Senaki and Poti.
- We differ from each other. Coming out of it, we act differently. Often we do not mention that incorrect behavior  promote to deepening the conflict- mentioned the participant of the work-shop.
To their opinion, learning of your own person, discussion of personal conflicts will help to choose correct strategy and manage conflicts and this will decrease violence in families.
