Workshop - is an educational activity (like seminars, courses), where the participants gain knowledge independently. Workshops are held on different topics with women and young people. Workshops are often conducted by the participants themselves.

  
The fund “Sukhumi” organized a workshop on the issue of human security in the public library of Poti. It was participated by the representatives of different society specters. The participants familiarized with the information regarding the campaign of 16 active days against violence towards the women. In solidarity all of them made a symbol of the campaign - a white ribbon.
At the meeting, there was held a presentation of a brochure published in frames of the project "Evaluation of the human security level of women in Western Georgia".
Participants of the workshop reviewed the topic of human security from a gender perspective. The audience fixed, that violence against women is one of the most serious problems among dangers. In the recommendations it was noted that the state's role should be increased. The law should define responsibilities for the eradication of violence.

State programs of social care need serious reforms, as there are cases when healthy people do not care about village land, do not start work due to loss of benefits, and it degrades people - discussions at the workshop were full of competent suggestions and interesting arguments. It was held in Zugdidi, in the center of democratic engagement.
The participants paid attention to the dangers that exist at the level of the city, region and also thought about the ways out.
The recommendations developed by the participants, touched all the components of human security. It was noted that professional colleges need more popularization and they will prepare staff according demands of labor market.

With students and teachers of schools №5 and 6 of the Abkhazian Autonomous Republic (Kutaisi), Representatives of Fund "Sukhumi" held four workshops on: "Learning conflict management in schools."
Students with Interest discussed what the world is, what the world is associated to them (color, music) how is the conflict defined, what are the positive and negative sides of the conflict, its reasons and how to manage conflict.
These workshops were based on the experience and methodology developed by the Armenian colleagues from the organization "Women for Development".
After completion of the active work the children expressed their contentment and dissatisfaction.
They are pleased to have considered relevant, necessary and essential topics, as well as develop practical skills of conflict management.
And they remained dissatisfied that so little time was allotted for such interesting work. Although they have the hope that the workshops will be resumed.
The teachers also liked workshops like. They decided to allocate few hours to the issues of conflict management during the civic education given.

 

 

- What are the relations of parents and children. Why do conflicts occur between the generations? Discussion of these issues raise a great interest among the youth.

- Parents require a maximum from children. For example, my older sister is a successful student. Mom requires the same from me, I can not, but she does not want to hear.

- Parents do not want us to make mistakes, it often irritates us and conflicts arise.

These are the young people's opinions. They sharpened the attention on obligations of children. They believe that it is necessary to improve communication with parents, to learn how to manage relationships in order to avoid conflicts.

Workshops were held in Tskaltubo, Poti, Senaki. During the work, role-playing games, individual exercises were used - as a result, participants actively joined the process.

On May 5 members of Gender Advisory Council of Senaki started the cycle of workshops on the issue of gender and domestic violence in frames of the project “Prevention of domestic violence in Senaki municipality”.

Workshops were held in 6 village communities (Akhaltsikhe, Nokalakevi, Eki, Zana, Nosiri, Gajeti) for the members of gender initiative groups, formed there. Number of participants is more than 100. The project is co-financed by local self-government of Senaki municipality and fund “Sukhumi”. Representatives of Gamgeoba and majoritarian candidates of all village communities of Senaki are actively involved in the project. Similar workshops will be held in 8 village communities else.

Conflict of generations: parents, children and their relationship - these issues were discussed at the workshops by the young people in Khoni, Poti, Tskaltubo.

According to them, the conflicts between the generations is the eternal theme, and it causes different opinions.

Young people noted that parents should be especially careful to act in the transitional age. They should bear in mind that all children are unique, and the methods that have been used, for example, with the elder child, can not be effective in dealing with junior.

It was stressed that children must improve communication with the older generation. They must realize that parents  are the closest people to them, and they should not have protest to the obstacles made by them.

Workshop with the youth started with the analysis of private conflicts and psychological test, which gave the participants possibility to define their psychological type.

After this task there was imitation of family scenes. Participants "mastered" in the role of aggressive husband and obedient wife, considered contributing factors and reflected the dynamics of the conflict. Performances showed that the escalation of the conflict often depends on the nature of man.

How to manage conflicts, in order to avoid becoming a victim or rapist - on this subject there was held interactive work.

After fixing different opinions, there was general assessment: we must be able to analyze conflicts, manage emotions, act to neutralize the situation.

"My parents and I are believers, and always keep the post. For the new year we prepared post meals. After marriage, in the family of her husband I met radically different situation. They declared that New Year is a special holiday for them, and there should be a pig, turkey kebabs ... When I said modestly that it is not necessary to prepare so many things, in my address I heard insulting words. Now I realized that I had the wrong position. It is necessary to respect the values ​​of others ", - on the background of the analysis of real-life stories workshops were held with women's groups in Tskhaltubo, Senaki, Khoni.

Participants believe that conflict management is particularly important to consider the values ​​of others, not to become the cause of strife.

Who and how knows and how effectively uses technique of communication. What is the connection between communication and conflict – young people held discussions on these issues on the workshops in Poti, Koki (Zugdidi municipality) and Kutaisi.

During the work there were used imitated presentations. The participants showed how important is communication in domestic conflict management.

Different opinions were expressed:

-Communication is not only conversation. Its effectiveness is how correctly you present and receive information.

-Incorrectly received opinion often becomes reason of difference of opinions and promotes to development of conflict.

Participants think that the society should receive information about effective communication as it is good mechanism for prevention of domestic conflicts.

Project of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council (AGC) “Camp of Teenagers – Gender Education for Young Athletes” was finished. In frames of 8-day program, the participants conducted 6 work-shops on “Gender, Gender Equality”. The program was full of sport, educational and cultural activities.
The camp was visited by the Mayor of Kutaisi – Shota Murgulia, Chairperson od Sakrebulo – David Dvali, members of the GAC.
The program will promote to teenagers to live healthy lifestyle and be more interested in gender issues. In this direction there are already revealed concrete results. The group of activists was created, on the initiative of which a discussion club will be created in Kutaisi public schools and the discussions on the issue of gender will be continued. There are girls, who got interested in so called “man sport”, for example judo. It will contribute to ruin stereotypes and establish of equal opportunities in all sports.
