The topic of mobilization meetings of the Women Support Centers in March concerned the International Day of Women's Solidarity - the history of founding, labor rights. Participants of the meetings received information on why March 8 was connected with women. Totally 27 meetings were held in nine municipalities. We also talked about the services that exist in the municipalities. The resource of a psychologist and a lawyer was actively used. Mobilizers have chosen questions for future advocacy.
In March, meetings/consultations of psychologist and conflictologist were held with three crisis couples. The reasons of the conflict are different: social problems, psychological stress, incompatibility.
Couples try to analyze the situation, determine the expected risks, and think about the way out of the situation. After the consultation, the parties individually received advice to overcome the crisis.
Women support centers have joined the global campaign for International Women's Day. Informational meetings were held with representatives of local government and active women. During the meetings there was a conversation about protecting the rights of women, about increasing their status in the family and society, about local programs, economic support.
On the background of the active involvement of the participants, workshops were held on the topic “The importance of sex education among adolescents”. Participants noted that non-formal education in this regard is very significant. At the end of the workshops, youth groups were created, which will continue to inform peers.
The work took place in the schools of the villages Gocha Jhikhaishi and Nakhakhulevi in frames of a small project of Khoni Women Support Center.
In February, 7 Women Support Centers carried out the monitoring of facts of violence - 7 cases were identified. Most cases describe facts that are often repeated. There are types of physical and economical violence, threat, verbal abuse...
The relevant documents were filled in, on the basis of which, with the permission of the victims, two of them were referred to the lawyer, and one to a psychologist.
Lanchkhuti Women Support Center began to implement a small project “Medical Staff - Against Violence”. The aim of the project is the active involvement of family doctors and nurses of 16 communities in identification of domestic violence and in local coordination. In order to improve the work of the referral mechanism, medical personnel will be trained in the duties envisaged by the law, as well as the acquisition and strengthening of the necessary skills identifying the facts of violence.
In February, preparatory activitieds were held - informational meetings with representatives of local self-government for their active inclusion in project activities.
In frames of the small project of Khoni Women Support Center “Protection of Girls' Reproductive Health” informational and educational work will be carried out in two villages of Gocha Jikhaishi and Nakhakhulevi, to protect the reproductive health of women and girls.
In February, informational meetings were held in schools of these two villages with the inclusion of specialist for reproduction. The meetings aroused great interest among both students and teachers.
A small project of Tskaltubo Women Support Center “Gender Consciousness Among the Youth” has begun. Informational meetings were held with representatives of local self-government, with the head of education resource-center and directors of target schools.
Active work is planned in two schools of the municipality to raise awareness on gender issues. The project is also going to hold meetings with parents and teachers. Representatives of the local government will be included in the activity so that they can better see the need for developing and implementing youth projects in the municipality in gender areas.
Senaki Women Support Center is implementing a new small project “Healthy Youth for a Better Future”. Activities will be conducted in schools of Nosiri and Taklati. The goal of the project is to inform adolescents about harmful consequences of alcohol, also to promote the introduction of a healthy lifestyle among young people. With this aim the youth initiative groups will be created in both target villages to continue the work.
In order to get acquainted with the planned activities, the project leader met with the deputies of two villages - Nosiri and Taklati, as well as with the representative of the Gender Equality Council of Senaki municipality.
Poti Women Support Center continues to work in frames of small project “Harmonious environment for kids”. The project envisages inclusion of teachers, pupils and parents of three kindergartens of the municipality in the prevention of violence and bullying. With this aim, it is planned to form the groups of responding to violence in targeted kindergartens. The project will involve social workers, local government representatives, law enforcement officers.
In February, the preparatory work was carried out. Meetings were held with the head of the kindergartens association, with the heads of kindergartens № 1, 2 and 3. The purpose of these meetings is plan the joint work.
