With the initiative of the Fund "Sukhumi", the problem of IDPs was discussed with "one window" principle in Senaki City Hall. The problem concerns the absence of a sewage system in the former military settlement (where mainly IDPs from Abkhazia live).

Before advocacy, the necessary documents, photos and video materials, signatures, and video clips were prepared.

The meeting was attended by IDPs, civil activists, Deputy Mayor Levan Eliava, representatives of various services of the City Hall.

Discussions were held on the ways and means of solving the problem using documentary materials. Individual authorities also spoke about their own responsibility in relation to the problem.

Kutaisi IDP Women Initiative Group held a meeting using the proven and successful "one window" method.

According to the agenda, the problems identified as a result of the needs research were discussed. Among them is the rehabilitation of the short road (260m) leading to the IDP settlement "Kotejebi". This section of the road does not belong to Kutaisi municipality and it needs to be handed over to the city. An opportunity to solve the problem was already found and it will be solved in a short period of time.

Members of Tskaltubo Women Initiative Group highlighted the social problems of the IDP settlement and sorted them by priority.

The serious problem on Abkhazia street, where 100% of the population are IDPs, is the damaged roof of multistoried buildings VII and VIII. The situation l worsen in winter, when the roof will not stand the heavy rainfall.

On the basis of photo-video materials and signatures, the members of the Initiative Group will try to advocate this issue in September by “one window principle” in order to solve the problem within a reasonable time.

Project work has identified many women leaders.

Mari Chitanava is one of them. Therefore, she was chosen as a main character of the article, published in our partner media publication Act2.

Mari is from Abkhazia. She is 26 and mother of three children.

When she was invited to the working meetings of the Women Fund “Sukhumi”, she refused, she was not interested and she did not have time. But then she nevertheless decided to join the IDP Women Initiative Group of Zugdidi. Her interest gradually grew. She became more and more active and attentively listened to information at live or online meetings and trainings.

A coalition project has been launched in five municipalities of western Georgia. The title of the project is: “Strengthening the capacities of the regional and local administrations in the processes of localization of the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security and enhancing the meaningful participation of IDP and conflict-affected women and youth in these processes”.

Senaki Women Initiative Group starts to work on the problem using the "one window principle". According to the general decision, a priority issue has already been chosen: The military settlement of Senaki, which is mainly resided by the IDPs from Abkhazia, has a serious problem: a faulty sewer system - basements are flooded, which creates discomfort for the population.

The working group collected photo and video materials reflecting the problem, as well as signatures - for submission to the relevant departments. The Women Initiative Group will continue to work on the problem using the "one window" principle in cooperation with local authorities.

A network meeting on the ZOOM platform was held within the framework of the project "Women and youth for the implementation of the women's peace and security agenda at the local level". During the meeting, the foundation was laid for the creation of a regional network, which united the women initiative groups created in Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Zugdidi and Senaki municipalities.

The meeting was attended by the heads of partner organizations and members of the women initiative group from Eastern Georgia.

The participants were provided with information about the activities performed by the women initiative groups, the current situation was assessed and the challenges encountered in individual municipalities in the process of implementation of 1325 UN Resolution  were highlighted.

- Why is it important to create a network? What will the use of this tool change in the activities of the initiative groups and what are the expected results? - The discussion mainly continued in this direction.

During the ordinary meeting members of Zugdidi IDP Initiative Group spoke about networking, responsibility of network members, importance of teamwork.

They once again expressed their position that they are ready to actively engage in the process of identifying the challenges of IDPs and solving their problems.

The participants expressed their views about creation of a local network of Zugdidi municipality. According to them extensive networking will contribute to IDP problem solution.

During the ordinary meeting of Khoni Women Initiative Group was devoted to the discussion of the principles of creating and operating the network: what strategic directions should the network have in order to actively work in terms of implementing 1325 UN Resolution at the local level. Group members are motivated to be actively involved in both local and regional networks. The meeting identified the most sensitive issues for the local community.

At the end of the meeting, the participants watched a clip in which the women talk about the training cycle. As a result of the trainings, the competence of each of them increased in different directions. They will work actively in their communities to change the lives of IDP women and girls for the better.

The first part of the meeting of Tskaltubo municipality working (initiative) group was devoted to the principles of network creation, the main characteristics of the work, purpose, advantages of network, barriers and social changes. The participants highlighted their willingness to actively engage in the process of identification of IDP needs and solution of their problems. They spoke about the challenges that emerged in the IDP settlements during the survey.

The second part of the meeting was devoted to the creation of the network, the signatures of those wishing to join the network, the development of a strategic plan for the future and participation in the implementation of 1325 UN Resolution.

During the ordinary meeting, the members of Kutaisi Initiative Group once again underlined that they would be actively involved in the process of IDP needs identification and solution of their problems.

People living in the IDP settlement mentioned the challenges that worry them for many years. Those participants who live in multi-storey buildings together with local residents also spoke about their problems.

The meeting focused on creation of network and networking. The strategic directions of the Women Network were discussed, the purpose of which is the implementation of 1325UN Resolution at the local level.
