How can be evaluated the project, as a result of which everyone mentions serious promotion of establishment of gender policy, what are the achievements of Gender Advisory Councils, established three years ago by the fund “Sukhumi” and what are their prospects in future.
In the air of TV Company “Rioni” the staff of fund “Sukhumi”, representatives of Kutaisi Sakrebulo and City Hall spoke about concrete results: understanding the needs of local social groups, the creation of a gender budget program parameters. It has been said that the sign of a successful completion of the project - implementation of gender councils at the legislative level. It is necessary to keep the charge, which appeared with the cooperation of self - government with different social groups and became the key to solving many of the issues.
On July 7, in the air of TV “Rioni there was held a show, organized by the fund “Sukhumi”, devoted to the work fo Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council (GAC).
Network meeting, as opportunity of gaining experience of GACs of three cities, projects, implemented by Kutaisi GAC, vision of the youth on gender policy and their recommendations, gender needs, revealed as a result of the research, problems and suggestions to the local government – these and other issues were discussed in the studio by the staff of fund “Sukhumi”, members of the GAC and participants of the youth projects.
Work of Senaki Gender Advisory Council regarding establishing gender policy of the municipality, issues, initiated by the GAC in the local budget, prospects of future cooperation with self-government – these were the main issues of the TV Show in “Egrisi”.
Story in the beginning of the program showed evaluation of the GAC work by the local government and the issues, for solution of which the GAC closely cooperates with local government.
It was mentioned that local government supported the initiative of Senaki GAC and the budget envisaged single assistance for the violence victim.
According to the government, the results achieved have shown that such a work should be deployed in the villages, and in all the communities must have gender councils, which will be at the forefront of local social policy.
During the dialogue in the studio "Egrisi" GAC members spoke about the work carried out in collaboration with local government and identified issues where the efforts of the GAC will be directed.
TV program, past in the air of TV "Guria" covers various aspects of Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council, a new perspective of the work with youth; identification of citizens needs and their advocacy and lobbying events; the most important thing - one of the visual results of the GAC: GAC member Nia Mekvabishvili was appointed as an assistant of the attorney (head of municipality administration) on gender issues. In future It will strengthen the capabilities of the GAC.
