The Club of Voter Women of Kutaisi often has the guests, who discuss actual issues. This time there were invited the chairperson of Kutaisi social service – Nino Chigladze and her deputy Lela Khurtsidze. The club several times raised the issue regarding social scores. Representatives of the agency gave full and detail information and answered the questions.

On September 11 representatives of the organization International Alert - Eurasia Program Manager Sofia Pagsley and a Camille Market came to the Fund "Sukhumi". With the support of this organization, the fund “Sukhumi” carried out more several projects. The guests got acquainted with the directions of our work, with peacekeeping activity and plans for the future.

 

In the regions, it was held a demonstration of the performance of the puppet theater, prepared in the framework of the project of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council "Formation of gender consciousness among pre-school children"

In Khoni, Tskhaltubo and Senaki pupils of kindergartens watched with interest the main character of the play - Pirimze fights against violence and evil, how valuable for her is friendship, love, equality, patriotism.

The play promotes to formation of gender awareness among children.

Two – day conference was held in Tbilisi, which was devoted to introduction of gender equality principles in local self-governments (organizers: UN women organization, women informational center, women fund “Taso”).
The conference was attended by Gender Advisory Councils created by the fund “Sukhumi”. On the first day, the participants discussed necessary institutional mechanisms of gender equality and summed up the results of the project for implementation of the principle of "one window".
On the second day of the conference, special attention was paid to gender-sensitive budgeting. Representatives of the Gender Advisory Councils of Kutaisi, Senaki, Ozurgeti and Batumi shared with participants their experiences on the implementation of gender budgeting and action plans of local gender policies.
It was said that the practice of existing gender advisory councils is the best proof for the timely adoption of prepared legislative changes.

On June 18, an ordinary meeting of Batumi GAC, once again touched the results of conducted research of gender needs and discussed concrete suggestions and recommendations.
The meeting announced the youth project of the GAC “Youth for non-violent society”. In frames of the project first demonstrative performances with participation of 6 schools were shown. The meeting also discussed other ideas, which will be supported by the local self-government.
Participation of the members of Ozurgeti GAC, showed their interesting experience and successful projects. It was mentioned that experience exchange system will promote to more interesting and multilateral work of the GAC.

Ordinary meeting of Ozurgeti GAC under active discussions, recommendations elaborated as a result of research were discussed. They will be reflected in the plan of gender policy of Ozurgeti.
Project of gender policy is almost ready and will be submitted to the local self-government. This is the basis of the fact that revealed gender needs as a result of research, will be reflected in the budget of 2016.

On June 2, in Zugdidi a festival was opened devoted to the day of America. The event presented projects, which are implemented with support of USA State Department.
Among numerous activities, there was a show of dance group “Sea2Sea” organized by the fund “Sukhumi”.
The presentation was attended by Prime Minister of Georgia – Irakli Garibashvili, representatives of central and local government, ambassador of the USA in Georgia and representatives of civil society.
At the end there was a concert from USA “Danger Flow” accompanied by the dancers of Sea2Sea.
Analogical events will be held in Akhaltsikhe (June 3), Gori (June 4), Tbilisi (June 6).
 
 
 
Representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” took part in the meeting, organized in Tbilisi, by the National network of protection from violence.
National network of protection from violence presented to legislative and executive bodies changes in the law with the aim of combating domestic violence.
The aim of law bills – inclusion of local self-government in activities against domestic violence.
It was mentioned that victim protection is very important and this is the priority of the state. Accordingly it is necessary to open assylems and crisis centers of the places.

 

  
The role of non-governmental organizations becomes more and more important in public life. Many organizations are active in Kutaisi.
On May 18-28 in the regions of Georgia the "Civil Week" was held in frames of which NGOs familiarize citizens with their activities.
On May 23, representatives of Kutaisi NGOs gathered in the central park of the city and made a report of the work.
Among the NGOs, publications of the Fund "Sukhumi", attracted the interest of citizens.
Also performances of the forum – theater were held.
Although of Kutaisi wind, the event was interesting. Participants expressed a desire, to often appear before their fellow citizens and to familiarize them – with what they do, what are their objectives, services and what benefits do they bring to society...   

 

  

 

The Fund “Sukhumi” is an active participant in the project "Overcoming the consequences of the war - together." Within the framework of the project flyers are printed in all languages ​​of participants. The Fund translated the flyer into Georgian, which includes: brief information about the project, project objectives, participants and partners.

The publication of the flyer in the Georgian language helps to inform both the project participants and all interested persons in studying the experience of the work of public organizations in providing assistance to people affected by the military conflict.
