On July 18-19, the Women Fund “Sukhumi” conducted training on the topic “Human Security Monitoring” at the Hotel “Radisson Blu Iveria Batumi.

The training was attended by 40 women from five target municipalities: Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Zugdidi.

The training was carried out simultaneously in two groups. Together with the representatives of the organization, the participants talked about the essence of human security and assessed its importance in conflict resolution.

The participants discussed the issues of cyber security and media literacy with interest.

The discussion of the topics was accompanied by thematic and fun exercises. The work was interesting because everyone took an active part.

According to the participants, the two days of training were interesting and productive.

An online meeting was held with members of Zugdidi Women's Network. The new stage of work includes expanding the “Network of Women and Youth Peace Ambassadors”, strengthening the capacity of network participants and supporting their initiatives. The women once again identified problems and discussed issues that were important to their communities. They were also informed about the planned human security training, which will include 40 women from five municipalities.

The members of the women initiative group of the village Pakhulani of Tsalenjikha municipality developed an advocacy plan based on the problems identified as a result of the research. One of the priority issues in Tskoushi community was the renovation of the sports ground. It was revealed that there is no appropriate infrastructure and it does not meet modern standards. During the meeting, the members of the women's group discussed the activities that should be implemented in the future.

The meeting participants were happy to note that the problematic gutters were replaced with new ones, and small windows were installed in the basements from almost all sides... However, the damaged façade of the building still remains an acute problem.

A working meeting was held with IDP women living in the building of a former clinical hospital on Otskheli Street in Kutaisi.

Members of the Women Initiative Group share their experience with the village residents and note that in order to preserve property it is necessary to work as a team and equally share responsibilities.

The members of Tskaltubo youth group started the meeting by evaluating project activities. The leaders presented the work done with the help of presentations and discussed the results. Especially the polarization of peaceful topics was identified. Against the background of high interest, they plan to continue working on these issues. Based on the advocacy plan, the Women Initiative Group will try to solve the identified problems with various activities. The participants have received specific tasks, which will become a guarantee of effective advocacy.

 - What did the project work give us, what did we plan, what results did we receive and what didn't work - these questions were answered by the members of Senaki youth group at the last meeting. According to them, working on the project developed their skills, increased self-confidence and activism. The most important result was the popularization of the topic of peace. Young people will try to implement peace initiatives in the future. The members of the Women Initiative Group specified the details of the advocacy plan and the persons responsible for the activities. In the coming months, they will try to advocate the problems that the group members have already identified.

The members of the youth group of the village Koki - Zugdidi municipality completed their work on the mini-project: "Hello, Abkhazia!", within the framework of this project various activities were carried out - a discussion on the topic of peace, meeting with peers, showing and analyzing a film. The aim of the project was to popularize the topic of peace. The members of the women initiative group worked on the topic of advocacy. The participants discussed the named problems. An advocacy plan was developed, according to which the group members will try to implement the process effectively.

Women Fund "Sukhumi" organized a training with young people on the topic: "Mediation as a Ritual of Reconciliation" in school of the village Didinedzi of Zugdidi Municipality. The importance of mediation, conflict management and development of necessary skills - this was the aim of the training. In the first part, the participants talked about the historical role of mediation, drawing a parallel with today. The second part, the thematic block was devoted to the essence of mediation and a detailed discussion of the skills that a mediator should possess. In the third, practical part, the participants improved the theoretical material with role-playing games. Young people rated the training as timely and effective. The members of Didinedzi women initiative group spoke about the issues that have been resolved and those that need to be resolved in the community. The problem of drainage canals was revealed, as crops and plants are damaged during heavy rains. The women initiative group discussed the elaboration of an advocacy plan.

An information meeting was held in the IDP community of the Choma district, (3 Leselidze Street) Kutaisi. The community leader spoke about the forms of civic engagement and its importance in solving existing problems. The main problem of the community is damp walls. Women began the process of advocacy. A statement with signatures was prepared and submitted to Kutaisi City Hall for response.

The people participating in our project, who gained knowledge and skills, are now trying to mobilize and empower the women of the community to solve problems.

The second stage of the project “IDP women and girls – actors of the elaboration of needs-based local policies in Kutaisi” continues successfully.

“We managed to solve one problem, and this is the merit of the project: we equipped the entrance of the residential building, made it clean and safe. Now we are starting to advocate for the installation of benches,” mentioned IDPs living in the building of the former musical college.

Members of the initiative group who were trained in frames of our project tell others about the need for civic responsibility.

The meeting participants actively discuss actual topics and are now advocating for the issue of installing benches in the area adjacent to 58 Chavchavadze Avenue.
