Forum-theater is an innovative method of work aimed at solving social problems through theatrical performances. The Youth Forum-Theater of the Fund "Sukhumi" has been working since 2009 and conducts performances on topical issues (conflicts, violence) in 4 regions of Western Georgia (Imereti, Samegrelo, Guria, Adjara).

Performances of the forum-theatre in Khoni

Forum-theatre of the fund “Sukhumi” plays with new composition. First performance of August was held in Khoni, in the club of IDP collective center. Active discussion was caused by the scene of violence in family. Also mini-history of beloved couple caused great interest. While presenting the scene of conflict situation between mother and son, the audience became tensed. By the words of one young man, mother must always serve her children.

By the opinion of one of the viewers, similar scenes reflect reality and it is a good information for discussion.

Performances of the forum-theatre in Khoni

Performances of the forum-theatre were held in IDP settlement of Khoni. Despite the fact that the audience was relatively passive and complained after seeing some of the violent scenes, they still remained to the end and watched 5 performances.

As noted by the young actors, it is also the result, as a man always thinks, draws conclusions and changes...

Performances of the forum-theatre

Performances of the forum theatre were held with students of upper grades of the school of Koki village (Zugdidi municipality). 6 performances were shown, which were followed by interesting discussions and inclusion in different scenes.

The discussion was participated by majority of attendants. After performances they spoke with the editor and young actors regarding the history and specifics of the forum-theatre.

Performances of the Forum Theater in Kutaisi

Forum Theatre performances are always very effective in public places.

12 spectators attended the performance in Kutaisi Ninoshvili park. Young actors have played 5 scenes. There was an active discussion. It was very interesting to show the problem of domestic violence in this form. There were different opinions - an elderly man and a young woman argued their positions, but both agreed that violence is unacceptable.

Performance of the forum-theatre in Koki and Menji

Performances of the forum-theatre were held in schools of Koki (Zugdidi municipality) and Menji (Senaki municipality). There were held more than 10 scenes. The discussion was quite active, teachers also were involved. The young actors showed the relation of mother and daughter, that caused great interest and difference of opinions.

Performance of the forum theater in Central Park of Khoni

In the Central Park of Khoni, the forum theater took place: 5 scenes and interesting discussions after each stage. Especially remembering was the young woman's talk and a request for help. She is a victim of violence, and does not know how to behave. The actors of the forum-theater gave her the address of Khoni Center for Women Support of the Fund "Sukhumi" and said that there is an opportunity to receive free psychological and legal services.

Hot performances of the forum-theatre

In the hot summer days forum theatre of the fund “Sukhumi” held two performances. The first in the part of one of Tskaltubo sanatoriums and the second in the square of Kutaisi.

The audience was very active – they were involved in the scene and discussions. The young people could avoid conflict and the women remembered interesting stories from their lives. There were two men standing quietly. Everybody mentioned it…

GAC project started in Batumi

The project of Gender Advisory Council: “Batumi youth - for non-violent society" started in Batumi, which is financed by the City Hall of Batumi and the Fund "Sukhumi". The press release was issued, which gave the public information about the beginning of the project.

On June 18 in School N2 there was held a meeting, which brought together students and teachers in all six target schools.

Pupils were selected for the Forum Theatre and began to work on the scene.

Forum-theater of the Fund "Sukhumi", declared solidarity to the project and presented had an exponential representation for the audience and made visual specificity of the discussion in forum theater.

Next activity will be the training, which will give the project participants theoretical and practical skills in essence of the forum theater.

Forum-theatre in “Suliko”

In Kutaisi, in the youth center “Suliko” a forum-theatre was held. 6 scenes were shown.

The scene of mother and son relation was too impressive. The audience took active part in the discussion. Young people expressed different positions, gave interesting examples from their lives. Some of them were involved in the game and changed the scene.

Forum-theatre in Tskaltubo

In school No1 of Tskaltubo, there were held presentations of the forum-theatre. 55 persons attended. There were shown 5 performances. Discussions were held with teachers and the director. The pupils also participated and it was very interesting.

After the scene of mother and son, most part of young people justified mother and mentioned that behavior of the son is incorrect. It tells about their education and respect for elders
