Senaki Women Support Center is implementing a new small project “Healthy Youth for a Better Future”. Activities will be conducted in schools of Nosiri and Taklati. The goal of the project is to inform adolescents about harmful consequences of alcohol, also to promote the introduction of a healthy lifestyle among young people. With this aim the youth initiative groups will be created in both target villages to continue the work.
In order to get acquainted with the planned activities, the project leader met with the deputies of two villages - Nosiri and Taklati, as well as with the representative of the Gender Equality Council of Senaki municipality.
Poti Women Support Center continues to work in frames of small project “Harmonious environment for kids”. The project envisages inclusion of teachers, pupils and parents of three kindergartens of the municipality in the prevention of violence and bullying. With this aim, it is planned to form the groups of responding to violence in targeted kindergartens. The project will involve social workers, local government representatives, law enforcement officers.
In February, the preparatory work was carried out. Meetings were held with the head of the kindergartens association, with the heads of kindergartens № 1, 2 and 3. The purpose of these meetings is plan the joint work.
Lawyers of the Fund “Sukhumi” actively started the New Year - strategy planning and topics of the year, working on that part of the law on funded pension, according to which the population has the opportunity to collect money for retirement.
In addition, there were individual consultations, development of the questionnaire of a violence victim, etc.
Since January, one married couple continues to receive psychotherapeutic consultation in Kutaisi Women Support Center. Individual consultations are conducted with 4 beneficiaries - these are representatives of crisis families and a teenager who has a problem in relationship with his mother.
The work was also held in Womes Support Centers of Khoni, Senaki, Poti, Tskaltubo, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi Municipality). 8 couples and representatives of three crisis families receive psychotherapeutic consultations there. In addition, 6 individual consultations were conducted.
Active psychological work helps to improve the climate in families.
A workshop was held in the office of the Fund “Sukhumi”. The mobilizers of Women Support Centers of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Terjola, Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti, Senaki, Poti, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi municipality) took part in it.
During the workshop, the strategy of the Centers was reviewed and a plan was developed on its basis. The participants by cities / villages have identified problems, and as a result of their ranking, they will develop project ideas for implementation in target municipalities.
Group and individual meetings were held with the lawyer in Cenaki, Khurcha/Koki, Poti, Khoni and Tskaltubo Women Support Centers. The main topic of the meeting is the law on domestic violence, victim protection, arresting and protective orders. Specific work is carried out with a female victim of violence. Meeting participants try to solve their personal problems with the help of a lawyer.
In December, the psychologist of the Fund “Sukhumi” actively worked in Khurcha (Zugdidi municipality), Khoni, Senaki, Poti, Tskaltubo, Kutaisi. 18 married couples, including those, in the crisis situation passed psychotherapeutic consultation. 5 individual consultations were also held at Women Support Centers.
As a result of psychologist’s consultations, many problems are solved and family relationships are improved.
Monthly monitoring of violence is carried out in Women Support Centers of 9 acting municipalities of Western Georgia.
In December, 7 cases of violence were identified and relevant questionnaires were filled in. Most cases concern psychological, physical and economic violence. For one woman, documents were prepared for submission to the victim identification group. Lawyers carried out consultations for three victims of violence in Kutaisi, Ozurgeti and Tskaltubo. Two women received consultation of a psychologist.
The mobilizers of the Women Support Centers of the Fund “Sukhumi” held informational meetings in local governments of 9 municipalities. The representatives of local government spoke about the programs of victim protection and their assistance.
The general topic of the meetings is the international campaign - “16 active days against gender-based violence”. Information leaflets and white ribbons were distributed.
10 married couples continue psychotherapeutic consultative sessions in Zugdidi, Senaki, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Kutaisi, Poti municipalities. During the meetings in Women Support Centers, the psychologist worked with 7 beneficiaries to overcome depression and trauma. During consultations with adolescents, the problem of conflicts with parents appeared.
Group and individual consultations with psychologist contribute to conflict management, resolving relationships, and solving problems.
