Reportage: Women Fund "Sukhumi" - Ukraine!

24.02.22 - the day that shocked the whole world and all of us, the women of the Fund "Sukhumi" - the war in Ukraine!

25.02.22 - we wrote an Appeal in support of the Ukrainian women and sent it everywhere!

26.02.22 – fundraising to support people in Ukraine began. 54 employees of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" transferred money to various funds to help Ukraine.

28.02.22 - we collected an additional 1500 GEL and bought baby food, diapers, hygiene products and took 12 boxes to Tbilisi, to the point of receiving aid for Ukraine.

We sent letters of support to all familiar and unfamiliar women organizations in Ukraine - with the question: how can we help, what can we do for them?

08.03.22 - organized the action "Solidarity of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" - to the women of Ukraine!" The action was attended by women from Western Georgia.

10.03.22 - started to provide assistance to Ukrainian refugees who arrived in Kutaisi.

11.03.22 - received a letter from Melitopol from a female activist who is ready to organize on-site assistance for women, the elderly people and children. She named two main problems: lack of food and medicines.

From 17.03.22, the process of transferring again collected amount by the employees of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" to Melitopol began. The process turned out to be not easy, but  transferring was still possible in Zaporozhie. Hooray! It was done! 55,285 UkH were received by the occupied Melitopol!

23.03.22 - the first purchase invoice and photos arrived.

A woman from Melitopol, with her friends, under a risk, began to distribute to people what they needed. They carried not only food and medicines, they also carried the hope that they were not forgotten, that even in the occupied territory there are people who support them, think and care for them!

Excerpts from her letters:

“Now I’m going to the village, there is no connection there. I'm taking food, part of the second run of products.

“I just handed out the medicines and two military cars drove into the yard, I managed to leave.”

“The situation is very difficult, buses with soldiers came to the villages and carried out searches in every house. It’s disgusting at heart, it’s never been like that.”

"Thank you very much for helping. Many people cry when I distribute medicines to them.”

“Grandmothers asked me to send greetings to you, to Georgia, and a deep bow for your help.”

“It’s easier for us that we give people at least something, but the situation is getting worse and worse.”

“The soldiers have established their power in the villages, they come to the villages, they conduct searches in houses.”

“It’s already late, very bad internet, only at night the internet is more or less loaded.”

“The soldiers, during the blockades took away one package of painkillers, a few more ampoules, bandages and a few sedatives ... But, thank God, everything else was ok. They open boxes, check constantly.

“Thank you so much! You can’t even imagine how you helped our people.”

“The road to Zaporozhie was closed, we are looking for new ways…”

“We received the last parcel of medicines. I even managed to give a small amount to people before the curfew.”

“I’m staying here for now, I’ll still look for place where I can address for help to people!”

“The food is somehow ok, but there are practically no medicines at all!”

«Все буде Украiна!»
