I learned, I understood, I realized, I can ...

I learned, I understood, I realized, now I can - these are the words of adolescents after our workshops.

These words express changes in their character, behavior, attitudes.

That was our goal: to teach these girls and boys...

"Teaching Conflict Management in Schools" - this is the name of the methodology, with which Larisa (Lela) Shengelia, conflict expert of the Fund “Sukhumi” is guided.

The rule is following: a group of 10-15 students is selected at school - mostly seventh-ninth graders. A workshop is held with the group once a month on various topics: what is conflict, stages of conflict, conflict resolution at an early stage, etc.

The group is trained for five months and at the final meeting, with the help of a trainer, the children prepare a concrete topic and make presentations.

As a result of work:

Conflict management group stays at school – these are little conflict experts, who start working with their peers.

Working with this model in schools was interesting. The pandemic changed live relationships, though the work was not delayed. Messenger groups, messenger rooms, online platforms were created - for example, Zoom, school directors also helped with the program TEAMS...

Everyone tried: the trainer, the school administration, the children, and the result was seen at the end of five months.

What are little conflict experts like?

They note that there were conflicting, not restrained...

Now they understand that you can avoid the conflict, give up, go for cooperation ...

They learned that conflict can be resolved.

They write about it themselves and this is a small part of the participants:

Mariam Totochava, eighth-grader of Gurianta (Ozurgeti Municipality) public school: “I realized everything when Lela Shengelia, a representative of the Fund“ Sukhumi ”appeared in my space, she was a person I needed. She explained to us how to live without conflict, when we should realize: "I will stop now", "We may both regret the final result" ... When I analyzed everything, I looked at life differently. I learned to manage myself, which does not easy for many people. "

Temur Akhobadze, a sixth-grader of Melauri (Samtredia Municipality) public school: “If I ever become a victim of conflict or bullying, I will easily escape with the knowledge gained here. If I face the fact of the conflict, I will try to explain to its participants that a quarrel does not solve the problem, but only aggravates it. Many thanks to the Fund" Sukhumi" for such a good project and the work done by Lela Shengelia".

Mueler Pipia, an eighth-grader of Poti Public School No. 4: “I admit that I am enough conflicting person, but lately I have realized that it harms me. This project helped me a lot in this: I learned about the post-conflict risks and it made me think a lot. I learned how to get out of different situations without quarreling. Also, I will have to give up something and compromise to avoid conflict. It will help me in the future and I think I will easily get rid of difficult situation without conflict. That is the main goal of this project. "

"You enjoy when your work brings results. From month to month, the pupils change and you believe that they will not only be non-conflicting, tolerant and friendly, but will also influence others,” says the trainer Lela Shengelia.

The project is implemented with the support of the organization Brot
