The members of women initiative group of the village Didi Nedzi evaluate the advocacy training conducted by the Women Fund "Sukhumi". During the online meeting, they were informed about the forms, methods and ways of civil advocacy.

The advocacy strategy and action plan have been developed around one of the priority issues for the community.

They gained experience in how to formulate the main message of advocacy, how to establish effective communication with target groups, how to choose methods.

These and other questions were answered by Ele Sulakvelidze, a member of Kutaisi initiative group and a participant of the volunteers’ promotion program. An online information meeting was held on February 9. Such initiatives from young people are welcome. It was useful and informative meeting.

According to the participants, the training was of such kind, where the trainers told about methods of communication and PR and raising awareness to representatives of civil society organizations in 8 municipalities.

Despite the online format, the participants were actively involved in the training process. For them, the information presented on the background of practical examples on topical issues turned out to be important: defining the target audience, planning and managing effective communication, managing the web page and social media.

Based on the COVID situation, meetings with young people in Zugdidi, Kobuleti and Vani, were held offline and in other municipalities (Bagdati, Tsalenjikha, Senaki, Chokhatauri, Samtredia, Tkibuli, Terjola) trainings were held online.

The participants found interesting the following topics: possible results of conflict, types of behavior in conflict situation, early marriage, bullying...

Each participant is interesting with his opinions and differs from everyone else. They speak openly about problems, discuss the ways of their solution. During the trainings, the leaders express a desire to disseminate and transfer the gained knowledge and in the future they themselves become the authors of the initiated activities.

With the assistance of representatives of the City Hall youth services and educational resource centers of Tkibuli, Zugdidi, Bagdati, Tsalenjikha and Kobuleti, the Fund “Sukhumi” conducted 5 trainings in youth centers on the topics of conflict escalation, reasons of domestic violence and cyber-bullying.

According the instructions of the trainers, the participants played role-games, which was followed with discussions and they expressed their opinions. The training revealed active young people, leaders who expressed a desire to carry out informational meetings. Some of them have already independently held a meeting and shared their experience with their peers.

This article tells the reader of the newspaper “New Education” about the peacekeeping activities of the Fund "Sukhumi" - mainly about the new project “Bridging the Gap: People to People Initiatives for Conflict Resolution”.

It covers a series of trainings conducted for youth initiative groups.

The role of young people is special in this work. The article emphasizes their interest: to learn more about the conflict and discuss current topics, their desire is: to take initiatives and become peacemakers...

An online training was held for representatives of the civil peacekeeping coalition "Women and Peace" and leaders of women initiative groups.

Training topics: UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the policy of its local implementation, the basics and stages of advocacy; organization of informational meetings with project target groups, online platform “Voters’ Advisory Application” and its use.

The participants of the training got acquainted with the provision for localization of the National Plan of the Resolution "Women, Peace and Security", local practice, challenges, issue of women's participation; they familiarized with the essence of the online vote -o-meter, which will be introduced in Zugdidi municipality for the local elections, as a mechanism for informing the voter. They also discussed the methods of facilitation and principles of working with target groups.

It turned out that the project team is ready to be included in the next stage.

The needs research is completed, the problem is identified, and advocacy process starts.

How to plan the advocacy process, what are the principles should be envisaged when forming the messages, what arguments can prove the urgency and priority of the problem? Online trainings on these issues were held on May 21 and 25 for women initiative groups of  Imereti and Samegrelo.

Participants worked on specific issues, identified the details of advocacy campaign.

The feedback showed that the training was fruitful:

“As a community leader, I should have known and already know about the ways of advocacy. It will help me in responding to problems".

“I got acquainted with the specifics of the advocacy plan. I especially liked the practical part of the training and learned a lot".

Online trainings on: “Problems of tolerance among the youth. Conflict management. Bullying” were held with youth groups of Kobuleti, Tkibuli, Samtredia, Vani and Terjola.

All groups differ from each other, but they are united by the fact that they really like non-formal education, the issues that are discussed. All participants are motivated to get as much information as possible and learn new skills.

There are leaders, who successfully complete their "homework". In May, they held informational meetings with peers on the topics of tolerance, conflict and bullying. Similar meetings are continued ...

A training on “Regional needs assessment with participation of a wide civil society - for the implementation of the Roadmap (PAR) at the local level (organized by the Fund of Women Entrepreneurs). The training was attended by 35 people from 3 regions (Imereti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi). The training covered both: theoretical part of the needs research of target groups (transparency, efficiency, inclusiveness), and practical work to develop a research questionnaire and discuss working versions. The training discussed the following issues: processing of primary reports, preparation of recommendations, methods of conducting focus groups and in-depth interviews.

The work is carried out in the framework of the project “A common forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap monitoring”.
