Cancer is not a verdict – presentation of the project

  
"Not one of our acquaintances a victim of this disease. Positive coming from Mrs. Lali, is a direct message of those who have lost hope for a cure. I welcome activities of Gender Advisory Council (GAC). Our municipality will be an example to support the initiatives of the GAC - said the head of administration of Ozurgeti Municipality - Merab Chanukvadze.
On the background of such emotional speeches there was a presentation of the project "Cancer is not a verdict" in the boardroom of Sakrebulo with participation of  municipality officials and members of Guria Regional GACs.
The project envisaged psychological consultation. The idea belongs to Lali Sichinava (Member of Sakrebulo, Deputy Chairman of GAC).
"Cancer is not a final verdict. It can be overpowered and I am a living example of this. The main thing is inner human spirit and support from family and society, "- said Mrs. Lali.
The project is funded by Gamgeoba of Ozurgeti municipality. It will include 50 beneficiaries from 12 villages.

Mobilization meetings in regions

 
Despite of the fact that there were enough number of people on the mobilization meetings, organized by the mobilizers of WSCs. The meetings were held in collective centers, villages and private houses.
The topic of meetings was devoted to the international dy of IDPs and refugees, touched IDP problems and situation regarding solution of these problems, especially regarding resettlement and rehabilitation.
The main problems were social ones. There is a high level of unemployment among the IDPs. Mobilizers familiarized participants of the meeting with the law on IDPs and the action plan.

Inclusion of disabled persons in public processes

 
International organization of migration and association “Dea” held a meeting in Kutaisi, Center of Democratic Engagement on: “Employment of the persons with disabilities and advocacy”.
Fund “Sukhumi” invited people of this category, with whom it works for the given moment in partnership with national network of women NGOs. They learned about international experience of employment and challenges, existing in Georgia.
It should be mentioned that people with disabilities are actively involved in the public processes of the city. 

 

Meetings in the local structures

 WSCs of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Senaki, Poti and Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) actively cooperate with governmental structures.
In July the meetings were held in Sakrebulo and different services of local self-government.
There was exchange of information and conversation touched the problems of concrete beneficiaries and their decision.
Mobilizers and activists of WSCs visit the meetings of Sakrebulo and share gained information with participants of mobile meetings.

Ordinary meeting of Kutaisi GAC

 
On July an dordinary meeting of Kutaisi GAC was held. How do the participants evaluate network meeting of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Batumi and Senaki GAC, conducted by the fund “Sukhumi”. What did they gain and how will they use experience – the GAC members expressed their opinion round these issues.
The most significant result for them - creation of the Network of GACs, which will raise the level of coordination between different GACs for achieving common goal. The meeting was a good opportunity to meet, exchange experience, that should be reflected in terms of gender aspect in the budgets of four cities.
The members of GAC reviewed the recommendations developed according the results of the study of gender needs. It was decided to select the group that will continue to work on the recommendations. Final version will be presented to Kutaisi Sakrebulo, in order to envisage recommendations in the budget of next year.
