Ordinary meeting of Kutaisi GAC

 
On July an dordinary meeting of Kutaisi GAC was held. How do the participants evaluate network meeting of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Batumi and Senaki GAC, conducted by the fund “Sukhumi”. What did they gain and how will they use experience – the GAC members expressed their opinion round these issues.
The most significant result for them - creation of the Network of GACs, which will raise the level of coordination between different GACs for achieving common goal. The meeting was a good opportunity to meet, exchange experience, that should be reflected in terms of gender aspect in the budgets of four cities.
The members of GAC reviewed the recommendations developed according the results of the study of gender needs. It was decided to select the group that will continue to work on the recommendations. Final version will be presented to Kutaisi Sakrebulo, in order to envisage recommendations in the budget of next year.

Ordinary 18-th meeting of Senaki Gender Advisory Council

The ordinary 18-th meeting of Senaki GAC was attended by the chairpersons of the fund “Sukhumi”, who discussed future cooperation with Senaki local government.
This was the first meeting after the general meeting in Batumi on June 30, which the network of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti and Batumi GACs was created.
Members of Senaki GAC gave high evaluation to this fact: signing a memorandum of creating a network of GACs in Georgia is logical continuation of activities of the fund “Sukhumi” in 4 regions of Georgia. It will enlarge opportunities of the council members regarding exchange of experience and informing.
The meeting also discussed results and conclusions Senaki public groups’ gender needs evaluation. Council members began active work for elaboration of concrete recommendations for 2016 budget.

Two meetings with disabled persons

On July 6 an ordinary meeting was held with disabled people in frames of the project, implemented in partnership with the National Network of women NGOs against violence.
The meeting discussed interesting issues for the beneficiaries.
Several representatives were invited in fund “Sukhumi”, where they familiarized with the histories of organization, its activities and plans for future.
 
   

Meeting of the mobilizers in the fund “Sukhumi”

  
In June 7, in the office of fund “Sukhumi” there gathered mobilizers of WSCs from Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Senaki, Poti and Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality). They presented reports of the three month work, discussed future plans and different technical issues.
The meeting presented initiative of the mobilizers – to conduct work-shops on the topics of gender violence in the collective centers and villages.

Network of Gender Advisory Councils of Georgia was created

In Batumi, at a joint forum 74 people gathered, who represented the members of the Gender Advisory Councils (GAC) of Kutaisi, Senaki, Ozurgeti, Batumi and representatives of the local authorities of these cities and the Fund "Sukhumi".
It was a summary of two years activities of two projects of the Fund "Sukhumi". In frames of these projects were created GACs in four cities of Georgia with the support of Gender Equality Fund, UN Women and the US State Department.
Presentation of the work done, implementated projects, results and achievements, exchange of experience, assessment of local gender needs, objectives and activities of the GAC, prospects for the future, project ideas and initiatives, informal relations ...
In short, these two days in Batumi were interesting and important ...
The most important thing is that the effectiveness of GACs and their influence on the formation of local gender policies was clearly revealed.
At the end of the meeting it was signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation and creation of Gender Advisory Councils network in Georgia.
There are 4 GACs in this network for the given period…
