The round table discussions organized by the Women's Fund "Sukhumi" are over. The main goal was to develop municipal services for effective response to issues of gender-based violence - through cross-sectoral cooperation and coordination between the center, the region, and the municipalities.

At this time, the central level was represented by Maka Peradze, Head of the Human Rights Secretariat of the Government of Georgia, and Tamar Tariashvili, Member of the Permanent Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality. Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Administration was represented by Nana Kakachia, a responsible person for gender issues.

The main part of the meeting was dedicated to the representatives of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Municipalities, who shared information on the existing achievements and challenges.

The lawyer and psychologist of the Fund "Sukhumi" are actively involved in the 16-day campaign. They held an online group meeting with the beneficiaries of Senaki, Terjola and Kobuleti Women Support Centers, with participation of 49 beneficiaries. The lawyer spoke about the law of Georgia on suppression of domestic violence, protection and assistance to victims and psychological conversations were on the topic “How to recognize psychological violence and not become a victim ".

Particular attention was paid to the campaign of 16 active days and to the importance of community support.

A psychologist and a lawyer, at the same time hold individual consultation meetings and help women to solve their problems.

Women Support Centers are actively involved in the 16-day campaign against violence towards the women. Within the framework of the campaign, 24 activities of different formats were planned: actions, information meetings, film discussions. Representatives of local self-government also participate in the meetings.

On November 25, Terjola Women Support Center started the campaign with round table and invited representatives from various spheres of society to speak on the topic.

Women Support Centers of Senaki, Tkibuli, Bagdati, Kobuleti, Samtredia joined the general protest together with the Gender Equality Councils and representatives of self-government.

The negative impact of violence was discussed at the meetings with women and schoolchildren in Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality), Vani, Tsalenjikha, Chokhatauri Women Support Centers.

With each activity, the community was once again sent the message that violence against women is evil.

The round table discussions organized by the Women Fund "Sukhumi" continue. This time the meeting was held with participation of the administration of Guria-Adjara State Attorney and local self-government officials. The central government was represented by the Deputy Head of the Human Rights Secretariat of the Government of Georgia - Eliso Shonia.

The participants of the meeting received the information about the experience of the Fund "Sukhumi" in the implementation of gender-oriented policy in local self-government - an expert in cooperation with local self-government - Ema Kamkia was the speaker. She focused on key achievements, challenges that still exist, and possible ways to respond to them.

Researcher - Nino Korinteli presented the findings and recommendations reflected in new monitoring report of the Fund "Sukhumi" - "Development of Child Care Services - to Promote Women's Employment and Ensure Effective Prevention and Response to Domestic Violence”.

Within the framework of the campaign of 16 active days, the Women Fund "Sukhumi" together with Tbilisi office organizes a series of round tables in cooperation with the Administration of State Representatives of Imereti, Guria-Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions and with participation of the representatives of local self-governments.

We firmly believe that similar information-sharing meetings are very important to facilitate cooperation, exchange of information, and coordination between the national and local levels.

The current meeting was held in cooperation with Imereti Regional Administration, which was attended by the Head of the Human Rights Secretariat of the Government of Georgia, Maka Peradze, together with the officials on gender issues of Imereti municipalities.

The results of consulting work

Overcoming stress, calmness, problem solution, hope ... - these and many other issuea are the results of the consulting work of a psychologist and a lawyer of the Fund "Sukhumi".

They conducted 3 online group meetings and individual consultations by regions for the beneficiaries of the Women Support Centers.

The work was carried out with crisis families and 29 beneficiaries continue to receive individual psychotherapy online.

At the same time, active communication is carried out with the beneficiaries of the day rehabilitation center of the Fund "Sukhumi" – this is a psychological therapy that these women need so much...

The Fund "Sukhumi" joins the International Campaign of "16 active days against gender violence" and our slogan is “Peace at Home and Peace in the World”.

In the framework of the campaign, we plan to hold dozens of activities to attract public attention: informational meetings, psychological and legal advices; round tables with the participation of representatives of local governments and government agencies.

Women Support Centers – for problem solution

Information meetings continue at the Women Support Centers. In addition to informing citizens, the facts of domestic violence are identified during these meetings and then they are responded.

In November, mobilizers from Kobuleti, Tsalenjikha, Chokhatauri, Tkibuli and Samtredia centers delivered the identified problems to a psychologist and a lawyer for the response.

Women Support Centers also advocate for problems in various communities, and community activists are actively involved in the process.

Active work of the monitoring group

The monitoring group began to work on an important topic - studying the attitude of the population to the issue of introducing programs for correcting the rapist's behavior at an early stage.

As a result of the research, it will be revealed how important the society considers the program of correcting the rapist's behavior, covering the program of psychological and social assistance to change the behavior of the rapist - so that the violence does not repeat and the safety of the victim is protected. To obtain comprehensive information, focus groups, in-depth interviews and quantitative research will be conducted in 10 municipalities of Western Georgia.

The work of the group is in active phase, the questionnaire process began, 4 focus groups and two interviews were conducted. The first data from a qualitative research shows that such program is important for society.
