In frames of monitoring the “Law of Georgia on the Elimination of Domestic Violence / Violence Against Women, Protection and Assistance to the Victims” the survey-questionnaire of medical staff was conducted in three municipalities of Western Georgia - Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Zugdidi. 100 beneficiaries of different profiles were interviewed.

Besides the survey, the in-depth interviews were held for two doctors in Poti and Terjola.

The purpose of the survey is to identify the shortcomings of the work of medical staff, as a referral subject, in the process of executing the law: how to increase the role of doctors in identifying the problem of violence and helping the victim.

On January 18, a meeting of the Gender Equality Council of Zugdidi Municipality was held. The working plan of Gender Council for 2019-2020 was reviewed. Council members also discussed the Roadmap, developed with the aim to localize UNSCR 1325.

The meeting was very active. The members of the Council noted the readiness to include in the process of implementation the activities, that were included in the “Road Map”.

An ordinary meeting of the working group on the localization of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in these processes was held in Tsalenjikha municipality.

The group members acquainted the chairman of Sakrebulo Temur Gvinjilia and the members of the Gender Council with the draft of the developed road map. It was decided that the Gender Council will get acquainted with the road map to integrate the main issues into the gender equality action plan in future. It was said that Sakrebulo will be involved in advocating issues that are under the competence of local authorities.

The stress was made on the gender aspects of the program of “Assistance to the village”. The chairman of Sakrebulo said that he will promote to the active involvement of the municipality in localization of Resolution 1325.

The Gender Advisory Council, established by the Fund "Sukhumi” in 2013 has been actively working in Ozurgeti municipality for three years. On the basis of the Council, the Women's Public Union of Ozurgeti is being created. The union is one of the members of the Coalition “Woman and Peace” and at the end of the year, on December 27, it held an informational meeting during which the discussion mainly touched the future plans. According to the decision of the union, one of the emphasis will be placed on peacekeeping activities, work on human security issues. They are going to involve interested people from all over Guria (Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti, Chokhatauri municipalities) - representatives of government agencies, NGOs, media, youth.

The meeting was held in frames of the activities of the Coalition "Woman and Peace". The Coalition included 10 women NGOs from 4 regions of Western Georgia (Imereti, Samegrelo, Guria, Ajaria).

On December 26, the Fund "Sukhumi" summarized the activities carried out during a year in frames of the project "Strengthening the Women’s Rights in Western Georgia". The project director, coordinator, assistant and mobilizers of nine Women Support Centers talked about the activities of 2018, the results, changes and future prospects...

The meeting with the working group was held in the conference hall of Zugdidi municipality City Hall. There was held a discussion about the working version of the Road Map developed by the group. The group enriched the map with additional directions, taking into account the needs revealed during meetings with the beneficiaries.

The working version of the Roadmap will be reviewed at Sakrebulo meeting on December 28.

The Fund "Sukhumi" organized a meeting of a working group in Tsalenjikha municipality on the localization of the National Action Plan for the implementation of Resolution 1325 of the UN Security Council. The group members reviewed the Roadmap project they had developed and identified a number of priority issues, advocacy of which had already begun.

The focus of the meeting was made on the Municipal Action Plan for Gender Equality, since special importance is attached to its harmonization with the Road Map.

Together with the leaders of the municipality, the working group considered the issue of advancing important topics for the implementation of gender policy. The conversation touched on the allocation of budgetary funds, directing local resources to the needs of citizens and ensuring their inclusion. Meetings with different target groups were planned to identify their needs. This will contribute to the active inclusion of the municipality in the localization of Resolution 1325 “on women, peace and security”.

Ozurgeti Center for Education and Equality held a discussion with members of the youth club “Orbit”.

- When talking about conflicts, one of the reasons is “language of hate”. Therefore, we chose an actual topic for discussion: “How to change the “language of hate”? - noted moderator Giorgi Chkhaidze.

The participants of the meeting talked a lot about the “language of hate” - in politics, media, between the conflicting parties, in social networks ...

And the ways out were thought together. Young people decided to influence their communication environment - in the family, at school, and not to allow "the language of hate".

At the end of the meeting, sky lanterns were lighted as peaceful messages.

The meeting with people living near te conflict dividing line was held in the village Khurcha (Zugdidi municipality). The meeting was attended by residents of different villages: Koki, Khurcha, Orsantia, Kakhati, Didi Nedzi - including IDPs.

The meeting was noticiable with its active participants. A working group has been formed in Zugdidi municipality to localize 1325 UN Resolution. The group members familiarized the participants with the working version of the “Roadmap”. Several problems were identified which will be considered at the meeting of the working group.

Separated, societies, alienated generations, restoration of trust, prospects for communication as a result of conflict... These and other issues were discussed by people gathered in the Fund of Women Entrepreneurs. The actual topic of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict and the role of women in its transformation was presented for discussion.

The reports clearly showed the main challenges: problems in official negotiations, difficulties for today, the relevance of public diplomacy and participation of women in peace processes. During the discussion, the guests voiced suggestions and recommendations that can contribute to the integration of IDPs, the restoration of relations between the parties, the transformation of conflict and more recognition of women's opportunities...
