Summing up the project

The story summarizes the results of the work in the framework of the project “Women, Peace, Security, Promoting the Implementation of the 1325 UN Resolution  Action Plan at the Local Level.”

The video record represents all five municipalities participating in the project - Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki and Zugdidi. Women initiative groups operated in these municipalities. Women representing these groups talk about the benefits the project and networking have given them. They share with the audience their successes, what they have achieved, and how they have become leaders who can identify, advocate, and solve problems to improve conditions in their community.

The new social clip from the Women's Fund "Sukhumi" reflects the essential strategies and actions determining the effectiveness of preventing domestic violence against women. It represents the main direction of our organization's work.

How can a society torn apart by war and conflict overcome alienation, rebuild relationships and create a dignified and secure future? - Our representative, Ekaterine Gamakharia, spoke about these issues as a guest on Mamuka Kufaradze's TV program before presenting the Abkhaz film "Waiting for the Future".

The first network meeting, which was held in Kutaisi, was attended by representatives of 17 municipalities.

The meeting participants talk about the need to involve women in the peace process, the challenges in this direction and the possibilities for their solution. The story is about this topic.

The story tells about the civil forum, held in Kutaisi on: "Women, peace, security - promoting the implementation of the 1325 UN Resolution action plan at the local level."

Representatives of local governments of the target municipalities assess the dynamics of the project and discuss the prospects for localization of the 1325 UN Resolution  action plan in individual municipalities.

We present our next video about work with young people in the rubric - "Gender and Society".

Women Fund "Sukhumi" continues the campaign of breaking down gender stereotypes in order to provide equality, tolerance, and a non-violent environment in our society through the rubric "Gender and Society".

Women's networks organized in 5 municipalities of Western Georgia (Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Zugdidi) chose topical issues and started the advocacy process on “one window principle”.

This is told by the women participating in the project and representatives of local government who participated in the meeting. They emphasize the importance of the dialogue format for problem solution.

Website – sosfsokhumi.ge is the first platform in Georgia that combines all necessary governmental, non-governmental or municipal support and empowerment services and programs, legislative acts, statistics, helpful answers, blogs and news about the success stories and challenges of the victims in one space.

Gogi Revia has a long experience of working in the local self-government of Zugdidi municipality. For the last ten years, he has been serving the direction of social protection, where, among other issues, significant attention is paid to gender equality. The budget of Zugdidi municipality was the first document where the program for financing victims of violence officially published in 2015.

"For an abused woman who is afraid of society to convey her first emotion to a man she knows or doesn't know at all is an embarrassing problem [in general], but because of my attitude, these women open up to me within minutes. They are sure what they tell me are confidential. I always offered them an effective solution and they were convinced. When there are one, two, ten or many other cases, I really have this confidence from them," - Gogi Revia, the head of the Social Protection and Gender Equality Department of the Zugdidi Municipality City Hall, tells us in the "Gender and Society" column.

Zaza Gochelashvili is a child and family social worker in Tkibuli municipality. He is also actively involved in the civil sector as a volunteer. He has a lot of experience working with minors.

"Mostly social workers are women, and I am one of the exceptional men, especially at the self-governing level, although I have male colleagues as well. Therefore, it is very important that two social workers in the municipality are a woman and a man,"- based on his own experience, he tells us in the column "Gender and Society".
