This is the first successful result of cooperation with Kobuleti local self-government!

It all started like this:

The Fund "Sukhumi" has been cooperating with the Gender Equality Councils of local self-governments since the day of their creation. Kobuleti municipality was included in this list in 2019. It was the only one, out of 11 municipalities, that did not have a single program to assist violence victims.

The advocacy and monitoring group and Tbilisi representative office of the Fund "Sukhumi" started active work to develop the program.

They are already leaders, as they conduct the activities  of Women Support Centers in 11 municipalities. They attended many trainings, but teaching and learning is never superfluous. Therefore, a two-day training was held for the mobilizers of the Women Support Centers, where they discussed topical topics: the phenomenon of leadership, civic activism, advocacy strategy.

The online space has become a platform for the participants to share their knowledge and information. They saw leadership, teamwork and advocacy issues in a new prism.

An online consultation meeting was held with Terjola civil society organizations. Significant activities planned under the project were highlighted during the meeting. This is the third monitoring of the Roadmap for Public Administration Reform to be conducted by Terjola civil society organizations. Deadlines, questionnaires, specific issues were discussed. Meetings with respondents were planned.

The ordinary meeting of Ozurgeti working group was actively attended by members of the group representing both local self-government and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders. During the meeting, special attention was paid to the issues of sharing the experience of Ozurgeti Municipality in the field of public administration and highlighting the role of civil society.

Issues related to new, third monitoring, changes to the questionnaire and report forms - this was the main topic of the online meeting with Khoni Civil Society Organizations - Khoni IDP Initiative Center and Education and Development Center “Edelweiss”. In frames of monitoring, the members of the organization planned meetings with the members of self-government.

The next meeting of Lanchkhuti working group was dedicated to discussing the role of youth in the public administration process and their needs. Representatives of youth CSOs participated in the meeting together with the members of the working group, in particular, the members of newly established organizations within the framework of the project - "Lanchkhuti Youth Movement" and "Ruduni". The meeting discussed urgent problems in the direction of introducing public administration. high motivation of young people and willingness to contribute to the further development of civil society was highlighted. Representatives of the partner CSOs - Lanchkhuti Information Center and the Georgian Rural Hall took an active part in the meeting.

“Assessment of Population Needs in 8 Municipalities of Western Georgia in the Process of Public Administration Reform (PAR) - Consolidated Report” - is the title of a new publication prepared within the framework of the project “A common forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap monitoring”.

An online training was held for the representatives of the Forum for Civil Society Organizations, the aim of which was a brief overview of the essence, stages and forms of advocacy. During the training, discussions and group work, participants discussed the factors hindering the proper implementation of public administration reform at the local level, identified and analyzed the target groups and stakeholders. The training developed the working document for the advocacy of the needs at the regional and national level in the municipalities, which will be the basis for a joint advocacy strategy of the representatives of the Forum for Civil Society Organizations and the Fund "Sukhumi" at the regional and national levels.

In January, 6 online group meetings of psychologist and lawyer were held for the beneficiaries of the Women Support Centers from Khoni, Senaki, Tskaltubo, Kobuleti, Khurcha(Zugdidi municipality), Pakhulani (Tsalenjikha municipality) - 35 people from 28 to 67 years old took participated.

The conversation was about how to manage negative emotions, and why it is so important in the situation of pandemic and domestic violence.

Couples and individual beneficiaries from different regions of Western Georgia also receive psychotherapeutic and legal consultation. This free service, is a great assistancefor them.

The Fund "Sukhumi" has 10 Women Support Centers in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Terjola, Senaki, Poti, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti and Kobuleti municipalities. The mobilizers of the centers have renewed their work - despite the difficult epidemiological situation, online and offline meetings were held. Specialists of the organization - a lawyer, a psychologist, a conflict expert - were actively involved in these meetings.
