A member of the Women Peace Coalition – organization “Imedi”, held four meetings in Zugdidi Municipality - mainly in compact settlements for IDPs to inform the voters. The meetings covered the villages of Zugdidi Municipality: Kakhati, Anaklia, Ingiri. The moderators talked about the positive results of using the online application, introduced the instructions for the use of applications and familiarized with the questionnaire developed by the Fund "Sukhumi".
Citizens were interested in the information on the online vote-o-meter. They also presented issues that can be addressed by the municipality. Contact persons have been identified who will meet with citizens again after the launch of the platform.
From July 10 to July 20 - Khurcha, Koki, Shamgona, Ingiri (Zugdidi Municipality) - these villages were covered by meetings for the introduction of the Voters’ Advice Application, which were held by members of the Fund “Sukhumi” Women Initiative Group.
The meetings were attended by citizens of different age categories in small groups. They expressed interest towards the novation envisaged by the project, established active feedback and highlighted the issues that are interesting for political parties. Migration was named as one of the most acute problems.
- Who is the leader, what is civic activism, how does a leader differ from an activist? - An information meeting on these issues was held with members of Khoni Youth Initiative Group.
Participants also gave their own examples of how they are involved in civic activism: participating in planting trees in the school yard, cleaning the school grounds, providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable families, feeding homeless animals ...
Young people know that leadership and civic activism are interrelated and contribute to the development of one another.
Two more meetings were held in women initiative groups. The members of the group took an active part in population’s needs assessment and listened to the results of the research with interest. One of the participants noted that the municipality does not have the luxury of conducting research and thanked the Fund "Sukhumi" for its work. The research will be submitted to the local self-government to take into account the recommendations developed.
Online round table was attended by local entities of Tsalenjikha municipality: members of the City Council Gender Equality Council, representatives of local self-government and police, kindergartens and schools, an educational resource center, and medical staff. There was a presentation of the research conducted by the Fund "Sukhumi" on monitoring of services for violence victims. The conversation touched upon important issues: statistics of arresting orders in the area of the municipality, identification of problems, the situation in terms of assistance to the victim...
The main mission of the day rehabilitation center is to protect the victim of violence. Therefore, the Fund "Sukhumi" is constantly looking for Companions, supporters, to promote the solution of the problems of beneficiaries.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Fund "Sukhumi" and the Agency for the Assistance to Victims of violence and Trafficking.
According to the memorandum, the Fund provides psychological and legal assistance, professional courses, support of a social worker and service of a rehabilitation center in Kutaisi.
The agency offers the victim a variety of services, including: psychological, social and legal assistance, temporary accommodation in the shelter, crisis center services and a consultative hotline (116 006) in eight languages.
According to the memorandum, the parties will provide each other with proper assistance in protecting the victim of violence / potential victim.
Presentation of the project "Strengthening the Women's Rights in Western Georgia" was conducted by the Fund "Sukhumi" in Samtredia, Tsalenjikha, Zugdidi and Vani municipalities. The meetings were attended by representatives of local self-government, civil activists. Emphasis was placed on the prospects of responding to the problem of domestic violence and cooperation in this issues.
According to the meeting participants, joint activities will make it possible to identify problems, the quality of their solution and prevention will be increased. Local governments are ready to be actively involved in the prevention of domestic violence.
Meetings of the mixed-type were held with youth groups in June. 5 trainings were held in the first half of the month, the other five - in the second half.
An offline meeting was held in Samtredia - the participants were actively involved in the discussion, role - games.
There was no possibility of such activity, but online trainings with youth groups formed in Senaki, Vani, Terjola and Chokhatauri.
The trainings were interesting for the youth audience. The following topics were discussed: conflict management, reasons of domestic violence and protection mechanisms, types and forms of bullying.
There was a good trend in the groups: participants spoke by their own examples, analyzed situations and made the right conclusions.
Guests - representatives of Lanchkhuti and Tsageri municipalities.
Hosts - Representatives of Khoni Municipality City Council and City Hall, members of the local civil society organization and youth center, teachers.
And the unusual format - the debate.
The guests presented their successful work - in terms of developing a code of ethics and the introduction of civic budgeting.
Khoni working group and the representatives of local civil society organization informed the participants about the results of working on small projects, participating in the needs assessment.
The Mayor of Khoni highlighted the achievements of the working group - spoke about the effectiveness of the municipality hotline, updated website and e-petition. Everything that has been done and what is still planned will contribute to the successful implementation of public administration reform.
Ordinary working meeting in Bagdati was devoted to the results of the research conducted by the CSO member organization "Equality Now" and also to the recommendations that will be prepared during the analysis of the research.
The research reflected the womens needs and its recommendations should be reflected in the Gender Equality Action Plan.
The head of the partner CSO “Civic Spectrum-Equality”, presented a working version of the anti-corruption regulation. Bagdati working group is considered a lobbyist in the process of approving the regulation.
Meetings were held with women and youth initiative groups in Tskaltubo Municipality.
The Women Initiative Group worked on an advocacy plan. A specific problem was identified as a result of the research. An advocacy campaign with specific activities has already been planned, in collaboration with the local government and the Gender Equality Council.
Youth initiative groups are working on the project. Participants already know how to build a project. They worked on the name of the project, developed a slogan, discussed the refinement of goals and objectives.
Tskaltubo initiative groups will present two projects at the sub-grant competition, each project will announce the directions announced by the competition.
