In December, the psychologist of the Fund “Sukhumi” actively worked in Khurcha (Zugdidi municipality), Khoni, Senaki, Poti, Tskaltubo, Kutaisi. 18 married couples, including those, in the crisis situation passed psychotherapeutic consultation. 5 individual consultations were also held at Women Support Centers.
As a result of psychologist’s consultations, many problems are solved and family relationships are improved.
Monthly monitoring of violence is carried out in Women Support Centers of 9 acting municipalities of Western Georgia.
In December, 7 cases of violence were identified and relevant questionnaires were filled in. Most cases concern psychological, physical and economic violence. For one woman, documents were prepared for submission to the victim identification group. Lawyers carried out consultations for three victims of violence in Kutaisi, Ozurgeti and Tskaltubo. Two women received consultation of a psychologist.
The mobilizers of the Women Support Centers of the Fund “Sukhumi” held informational meetings in local governments of 9 municipalities. The representatives of local government spoke about the programs of victim protection and their assistance.
The general topic of the meetings is the international campaign - “16 active days against gender-based violence”. Information leaflets and white ribbons were distributed.
10 married couples continue psychotherapeutic consultative sessions in Zugdidi, Senaki, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Kutaisi, Poti municipalities. During the meetings in Women Support Centers, the psychologist worked with 7 beneficiaries to overcome depression and trauma. During consultations with adolescents, the problem of conflicts with parents appeared.
Group and individual consultations with psychologist contribute to conflict management, resolving relationships, and solving problems.
In December, at the end of the small project of Khurcha/Koki Women Support Center (Zugdidi municipality), a meeting was held with women on the topic: “Domestic violence, forms of violence against women and the reasons”. A round table summarized the work and achieved results. Participants of the activities carried out in frames of the project were invited to the round table.
One of the participants noted: “I live in the village, I do not work. It was very important for me to be included in the project - I learned about many things and received a kind of relief”.
The small project of Tskaltubo Women Support Center “Family without violence” was completed with the training. The training was held during the period of International Campaign: "16 active days against gender-based violence", the training started with conversation about the importance of the campaign and this year's slogan "Stop Violence in the World of Work!"
Through myths and facts, a stereotypical attitude to the problem was shown. Training participants believe that their inclusion in preventive activities will be effective. They pay particular attention to cooperation with experienced NGOs working in this direction.
A small project of Poti Women Support Center “Harmonious environment for kids” has been completed. Informational meetings and training were held in frames of the project. On December 13, a second training was held in Sakrebulo for kindergarten managers and educators on the topic: “The essence of gender, gender-based violence, types and signs of domestic violence, ways and mechanisms of referring”.
The training focused on the topic of bullying. According to the participants, it is necessary for all teachers to have information about the forms of violence, the law and protective mechanisms.
Women support centers of the Fund “Sukhumi” were active during the International Campaign - “16 active days against gender-based violence”.
Mobilizers of Women Support Centers of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Terjola, Senaki, Poti, Zugdidi, Lanchkhuti and Ozurgeti held more than 30 informational meetings in cities and villages from November 25 to December 10 with different groups - women, men, IDPs, youth, teachers.
Informational meetings were attended by the representatives of local self-government, who familiarized women's groups with the social direction of the budget draft for 2019.
On the initiative of the mobilizer of Terjola Women Support Center, a three-day seminar was held for teenagers and their parents with the support of “Terjola Medi”. Together with a psychologist and a psychiatrist, the seminar examined the causes of violence, the relationship of parents and teenagers.
All participants were familiarized with the history of the 16-day campaign. They condemned the violence and expressed solidarity to the campaign.
The final work in frames of the small project of Khoni Women Support Center: “Youth Against Violence” coincided with the International Campaign of “16 Active Days Against Gender-Based Violence”, so the participants were presented the information about the campaign.
In the village Mathoji, a young project participant presented short films made by girls-activists of the Fund “Sukhumi” - “Narrow Corridor”, “One Ordinary Day”, “Suitcase”, “Chair”, “Steps”. Then there was a discussion of the problems raised in the films.
On December 3, a round table was held in the conference hall of Sakrebulo with the participation of young participants of the project and representatives of the local government. During the meetings the attention was paid to the work in frames of the project and to received results.
Mobilizers of 9 Women Support Centers held 27 informational meetings with different groups in cities and villages, in IDP collective centers. The topic of the meetings is domestic violence and the Istanbul Convention. Participants of the meetings were familiarized with the convention, which supports the women’s rights.
November 24-25 with the support of the clinic “Terjola Medi” an informational meeting and consultation was held for the adolescents in Terjola. Then the joint meeting was held with the teenagers and their parents, at which many topical issues were discussed together with a psychologist.
