From November 25 to December 10, the Fund "Sukhumi" joins the International Campaign of "16 active days against gender violence."
The slogan of this year is: “Stop Violence Against Women in the World of Work!”
Despite the fact that the Labor Code of Georgia, national laws and international documents ratified by the state, prohibit discrimination, the rights of women in the labor market are often violated.
That is why, in frames of the campaign, we plan to hold dozens of activities to attract public attention: informational meetings, psychological and legal advices; round tables with the participation of representatives of local governments and government agencies. Informational materials will be distributed.
On the first day, the Fund “Sukhumi” launched a facebook campaign.

Mobilizers of the Women Support Centers of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Lanchkhuti, Senaki, Ozurgeti, Khurcha / Koki (Zugdidi municipality) gathered in the office of the Fund "Sukhumi".
During the meeting a brief report of the work for three months was made. The mobilizers talked about problems and future plans, about the inclusion in the international campaign of “16 active days against gender violence”.
The small project of Tskaltubo Women Support Center continues. The representatives of the five villages of the municipality, members of the Gender Equality Council and women activists participated in the training on the topic: “Gender, Gender-based Violence and Assistance to Victims of Domestic Violence”.
Heads of territorial units speak about the increase of violence cases. According to them, everyone should have comprehensive information about the mechanisms of protection and should know whom to cooperate with, who can help them. It was noted that it is necessary to have more opportunities for real support to the victim.
In frames of the small project of Khurcha / Koki Women Support Center (Zugdidi Municipality), informational meetings and trainingS were held with women in Orsantia and Kakhati.
The training covered the reasons and results of violence, the law against domestic violence and violence against women, protective mechanisms, the referral subjects.
Participants noted:
“Most women are not informed about protective mechanisms. Many of them do not even know about the existence of the law.”
"There are few programs that support women victims of violence, and therefore a woman is forced to return to the rapist and endure the violence."
The training gave them the necessary information and knowledge.
A lot of activities were held in November, in frames of a small project of Khoni Women Support Center: “Youth Against Violence”: informational meetings in the villages Kukhi and Matkhoji with representatives of the Mayor, with the head of the kindergarten in the village Kukhi, with puipils of school No. 4 on the topic “Conflicts and bullying” .
In the kindergartens of Kukhi and Matkhoji, the shadow theater of the Fund “Sukhumi” presented the performance “Turnip”.
In the village Nakhakhulevi, a young project participant showed short films of activist girls of the Fund “Sukhumi”: “Narrow corridor”, “The ordinary day”, “Suitcase”, “Armhair”, “Steps”.
The project involves more and more people - this is its main goal.
The project of Poti Women Support Center “Harmonious environment for kids” continues. A training on the topic: “The essence of gender, gender-based violence, types and signs of domestic violence, ways and mechanisms of referring” was held for managers and educators of kindergartens in the hall of Sakrebulo.
The training was full of active inclusion of participants. It was noted that such trainings are important for kindergarten teachers, as the new instructions indicate, involvement in this direction is impertant. The training also focused on the topic of bullying. The methods of identifying the facts of bullying was interesting for the participants.

“I will hold an informational meeting with parents and educators. It is important that the parents should know what we need to respond to.”
Informational meetings with parents of kindergartens No. 6 and No. 16 were held in October, in frames of the small project of Poti Women Support Center “Harmonious Environment for Kids”. The topic of the meetings was domestic violence and its impact on children. There was revealed the necessity of holding a meeting of a psychologist with parents and teachers, with an emphasis on the difficulties of relations between parents and children, as well as improving communication of teachers with kids.
During the meeting with the representative of the pre-school education union, the organizational issues of the planned training were reviewed.
Psychotherapeutic consultative sessions were held with 6 married couples In Senaki, Terjola, Tskaltubo, Kutaisi, and Khurcha (Zugdidi municipality). The psychologist also conducted 8 individual consultations on the problems of hyper activity, fears, aggression and made 2 psychological portraits for adolescents.
4 married couples were consulted via Skype.
Totally 40 beneficiaries received psychotherapeutic consultations.
The couples had consultations in correction of self-awareness so that they could choose non-violent forms of behavior.
In October, both group and individual meetings were held with a lawyer in Women Support Centers of Senaki, Khurcha / Koki, Tskaltubo. The main topic of the meeting is the law on domestic violence, mechanisms of victim protection (arresting and protective orders, interdepartmental council). Besides - personal questions, which were interesting for the meeting participants. Also one telephone consultation was given. Consultations help to solve the problems of the beneficiaries.
The coordinator of the small project of Khoni Women Support Center “Youth against Violence”, met the deputy chairperson of Sakrebulo and the heads of kindergartens of the villages Nakhakhulevi and Kukhi. The conversation touched activities planned within the project.
Short films were shown by activist girls of the Fund “Sukhumi” in school No 4. These were the films: “Narrow Corridor”, “One Ordinary Day”, “Suitcase”, “Armchair”, “Steps”. During the discussion, young people noted that the problems reflected in the films are relevant to this day: integration, migration within the country, domestic violence, conflicts between adolescents, bullying… together we must look for a way out, try to solve them.
