The meeting held by Kutaisi Youth Club was dedicated to the International Day of Peace. The leader of the club made a presentation. The members received information about the history and significance of this day. The second part of the presentation was devoted to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the discussion of ways to resolve them. Members of Kutaisi Women Initiative Group gathered to discuss the dynamics of the advocacy process. According to the advocacy plan, the members of the group are ready to work on the chosen problem. They also met the director of the target school, introduced the purpose of cooperation and set a future plan.

“Violence against children and neglect of children” - psychologist of the Women Fund “Sukhumi” Eka Khaindrava held meetings on this topic at Women Support Centers of Samtredia, Kobuleti, Senaki, Tsalenjikha and Zugdidi. The target groups were mainly teachers of kindergartens and schools. Individual meetings were held with schoolchildren.

During the meetings it was noted that, after physical signs, a child's behavior is the second main indicator of violence. Most children, who have experienced violence, are passive. Their nutrition may be disrupted, in many cases they do not know how to play, cannot control themselves, and sometimes they have delays in development.

This information is important for teachers to help children.

International Day of Peace is celebrated on September 21. The Women Initiative Group of the village Koki - Zugdidi municipality joined the campaign. "Let’s make a promise, that we will teach our children tolerance and respect of others. Let's fight for peace and protect it as far as we can" - these were the main messages voiced by the women. As for the youth initiative group of the village Koki, on the International Day of Peace, they once again mentioned that poverty, exhaustible natural resources, inequality, corruption, racism and xenophobia are the best ground for conflict between different groups. According to them, the International Day of Peace is dedicated to the fight against these reasons of conflicts!

The Women's Fund "Sukhumi" is pleased to introduce a research report titled: “Human Security: Assessing Public and Personal Security through a Gender Lens of Population Needs”.

This research aimed to explore the level of human security within the six designated municipalities where our organization operates: Zugdidi, Tsalenjikh, Senak, Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, and Khoni.

The primary objectives of this research were twofold: first, to assess the extent of the population's sense of security, both in the public sphere and within their personal lives; and second, to identify the specific risks and needs that contribute to feelings of vulnerability and insecurity among community members.

By pinpointing these key findings, our aim is to offer strategies and recommendations that can effectively address these issues. Furthermore, we are committed to advocate for positive changes, both locally and on broader scales, encompassing national and international levels.

The report was published within the USAID-supported project - "Bridging the Divide - People-to-People Initiatives for Conflict Resolution"

With our thoughts we are often either in the past or in the future, but in reality everything happens only “here and now”. Mindful person pays attention to the present moment and lives fully.

Mindfulness means full concentration of attention “here and now”.

Mainly this method was used at the training held in Batumi and with our help, 6 Ukrainian women from Kutaisi went to participate in it.

During the training, interesting issues were raised: how to overcome anxiety, how to calm down and love yourself, etc. The women learned a number of exercises. They were satisfied with the training, since this is everything that each of them and their family members need before returning home.

Similar trainings will be conducted with other groups.

Forum Theater – waiting for changes

An active rehearsal process has started in Forum Theater. The group is waiting for changes. Casting was announced, interviews are underway, and we are expecting a new group of young actors. Similar changes often happen in Forum Theater as group members leave after finishing school.

In September, two performances were held in the central parks of Kutaisi, the season of good weather is already ending, and the Forum Theater maximally used this space. Playing outdoors is a great experience for actors.

The discussions during the performances were interesting and open, but the fact is that the audience does not want to be photographed.
