Terjola, Poti, Nakhakhulevi workshops on the topic of conflict transformation

Analysis of the conflict, the transformation of the conflict, women's peace initiatives - these themes have united young people living in 6 regions of Western Georgia. Within the framework of the project "Expanding Women's Opportunities for Developing New Approaches Relating to the Transformation of the Conflict," they passed a three-day training on these issues, mastered the skills of the facilitator and then themselves began to organize workshops.

Tamar Iakobashvili held the first workshop on June 3 in Terjola. After the introductory words of the facilitator, the discussion of the causes of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict and ways of its settlement began. The meeting lasted almost 3 hours, but the participants did not feel the flow of time, as they were actively involved in the process.

Keti Cheban and Mariam Zirakadze held a workshop on June 7 at school No.5 and No.7 in Poti. At first they acquainted the audience with information about the project. Then they learned what the participants know about the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, what their attitude is. Participants worked in three groups and presented interesting presentations. During the feedback it was noted that they were able to manifest their capabilities.

On June 8, Tea Medzvelia included girls in the village of Nakhakhulevi (Khoni municipality) in the workshop. They listened with interest to information about the work carried out within the framework of the project.

The facilitator maximally involved the audience in the work. Particularly active was the activity of girls regarding women's peace initiatives. At the time of the workshop, all the items drafted in the modules were successfully implemented.

The topic of the workshop is gender, gender violence

- When the equality is violated in the family and takes the form of discrimination - young people held discussions on this issue on the workshops in Poti, Kutaisi and Senaki.

Participants believe that most of the family conflicts are related to the incorrect distribution of functions:

-If in the family the decision takes only one and the other members of the family live at his desire, this is violence.

Unfortunately, most women misunderstand the essence of equality. In their opinion, what happens in their families is common. Therefore, it is difficult for them to realize themselves in society.

According to young people, more work is needed with society to correctly assess what equality in the family is, and to analyze the negative results that lead to gender-based violence.

Work on communication with youth groups

Workshops on gender violence

Gender-based violence and family conflicts-on these issues, interesting discussions took place with women at workshops in Tskaltubo, Zugdidi and Khoni.

Most agree with the view that violence often takes place in families where there is no gender equality, where a woman does not have the opportunity for self-fulfillment and she constantly depends on her husband's choice.

Particularly interesting was the meeting in the village of Ganmukhuri (Zugdidi municipality), where the Fund "Sukhumi" came for the first time. The majority of participants expressed a desire for cooperation, since the topic of violence is their priority.

The topic of communication - in workshops, conducted with women

How important is communication in conflict management - workshops with women's groups in Khoni, Kutaisi and Khurcha (Zugdidi municipality) were held on this issue.

During the work, the participants carried out a practical exercise. Using this method, they analyzed and concluded that the main reason for the development of the conflict is incorrect communication. The participants of the workshops discussed the life examples - this gave the meetings special effectiveness.
