Bulling - Violence among teenagers

In June, workshops with young people were held on the topic "Bullying - Violence among teenagers." Meaning of bullying was new for many people, however, after clarification, participants of the meeting in Senaki, Kutaisi and Khoni remembered - that often the subject of ridicule is hairstyle, clothes, red hair, glasses ...
Workshops were not ended with a discussion of specific examples. Young people talked about the reasons that contribute to aggression among teenagers. They drew a parallel with family conflict. It was said that children from hard families often laugh at others, or vice versa - are victims of violence.
The conversation was followed by searching for the ways out: a greater awareness of young people, more communication with parents and teachers, talk with psychologist.

Workshops with young people on the issue of equality

Young people in Tshalutbo, Senaki and Honey with a special interest discussed the topic of gender equality. The topic of disagreement was the issue of how to define the role of the family equally. One of them said that the Georgian woman traditionally obedient to her husband and the husband is the ruler. When this "balance" is broken, resistance and conflict starts.
Young people also talked about the mechanisms to resolve the situation. According to them, since equality is violated, there is a victim and rapist. So the key to resolve conflicts they see in gender equality.
Participants of the discussion noted that it is impossible to destroy the stereotypes in one day. It is not enough one-time events for that. We need to realize that gender equality will reduce the risk of family violence, and the process should include the whole of society.

Workshops with women

With the participation of women of all ages in Senaki, Honey and Koki (Zugdidi Municipality) workshops on conflict were held. Women received information about effective communication, its verbal and nonverbal aspects.
Particularly interesting was the workshop, held in the village of Koki. Participants analyzed life examples and talked about the major factors that hinder or vice versa, contribute to the establishment of communication.
According to the participants of the workshops, it is necessary to continue the discussion on these issues as the role of communication is very important in the management of conflicts. The more people become familiar with the techniques of communication, the less will be the risk of family conflict.

Work-shop with the women – connection of equality with violence

In Kutaisi, Khoni and Tskaltubo workshops with women were held on actual issues: how is gender equality connected with violation against women, is the conflict caused by incorrect allocation of functions in family, what stereotypes form inequality model in our society.
Participants consider that traditional Georgian family discriminates women. Most of women obey to it, but those who try to ruin stereotypes, often become victims of violence.
While discussions with the women there were expressed opinions regarding possibility of creation of gender equality in family. By general point of view, meaning of equality should be equally explained to society and it is necessary to conduct discussions on these issues.

Work-shops with the youth

FormatFactory1
In workshops held in Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo and Senaki, young people fix their positions regarding women's rights. Most of them believe that informing about their own right should take place at an early age, as the violence begins with the violation of their rights.
During the discussions, the participants gave real-world examples and analyzed how much they know about their rights, is a compromise solution to the problem and whether they can effectively manage conflict situations.
- Violence against women in our country is one of the most serious problems, caused by the shortage of information. We will continue discussion on this subject, as the girls must know their rights. This will greatly help us to avoid conflict situations, in order not to be in the role of the victim, - said one of the participants.
