On February 17 Tbilisi hosted a presentation of the research of the fund "Sukhumi" - "Strengthening women's voices in the process of conflict transformation", which was attended by representatives of different social groups, the media, government agencies, the diplomatic corps.
The forum participants received detailed information on the brochure "Women's participation in the Geneva talks: problems, achievements and prospects", issued as a result of the study, also they watched a film on the same topic.
The meeting put forward the issues that concern residents of conflict zones – their solution is important with women's participation in constructive negotiations and agreements, taking into account their vision.
There was a discussion on the inclusion of more women in the process of peaceful settlement of conflicts. There was fixed a need for a more flexible format with the inclusion of representatives of society and the NGOs - those people who are in direct contact with the problem.
On February 15 a meeting was held in one of Kutaisi collective centers, where the participants were given information regarding a law on IDPs. The meeting summarized all problems, related to IDPs. For solution of the problems of one woman, who is sick and cannot move independently, a statement was prepared and sent to the Ministry of refugees and accommodation.
On February 15 there was held a meeting of the Club of Women-Voters of Kutaisi. It was attended by activists of the club and the new members. And also there was invited a Deputy of Social Services of the City Hall Mamuka Sanikidze. He introduced the attendants to social programs of the 2016 budget and explained the terms of use. It was said that there is a new program this year for the people with problems of hearing. Also, a program that envisages creation of housing fund – of a temporary residence.
Club members noted that they will spread the information to a lot of people know about specific programs.
Several women asked for help in dealing with personal problems. Guest wrote and promised to help.
With the aim of advocating local issues 7 members of the club are invited to a meeting of the Gender Advisory Council, which will discuss the issue of urban transport.
TV show “7 Days” devoted one of its blocks to the second meeting of the GAC network, which was organized in Kutaisi by the fund “”Sukhumi”. The network meeting was held in a new format and was attended by the representatives of Sakrebulo and City Hall.
The story tells about the results, which were made as a result of network work. At the given phase the recommendations were elaborated for the action plan of protection from domestic violence, which defines the spheres of self-government in this direction and comprises of concrete issues, that should be done in direction of violence prevention and victims’ assistance.
By the evaluation of the respondents, the meeting was very productive and timely, which promotes to more involvement of self – government in the issue solution.
