On June 28, the moderators of the Women Initiative Groups of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo and Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) gathered in the Fund “Sukhumi”. The director and the project coordinator familiarized them with the aims, tasks and activities of the project: "Early Warning of Conflict- Theory and Practice". This is a three-year project, implemented since January 2018, and it envisages early prevention of crisis situations and conflicts existing in the society.
Terjola - information meeting with Gender Equality Council
Fund “Sukhumi” organized meeting of the Gender Equality Council of Terjola Municipality Sakrebulo. Participants of the meeting discussed how to incorporate gender approaches at local level. Fund “Sukhumi” shared its experience.
The second part of the meeting was dedicated to consideration of an Action Plan draft. The plan reflects: structure of the Council, its institutional development, trainings on gender issues, gender programs in local budget, creation of gender statistic.
The meetings was held within the framework of the project "Learning from the experience of Visegrad 4 to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic local governance".

Strategic guidance for local self-government – new publication of Fund “Sukhumi”
“Gender mainstreaming in municipalities – strategic guidance for local self-government – is the title of a new publication of Fund “Sukhumi”. It includes experts’ opinions and recommendations, collected from experiences of Georgia, including Abkhazia and Visegrad countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia).
The guidance is a methodical manual which will held local self-governments in incorporation of gender oriented policy. It includes the list of issues that are important for gender mainstreaming at local level.
The publication was developed within the framework of the project "Learning from the experience of Visegrad 4 to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic local governance".
Monitoring of violence during 4 months
A report for 4 months (February-June) on monitoring violence was made.
52 questionnaires were filled in. 31 questionnaires in Women Support Centers (Kutaisi - 4, Tskaltubo - 4, Khoni - 3, Poti - 4, Senaki - 3 Khurcha/koki - 4, Terjola - 3, Ozurgeti - 3, Lanchkhuti - 3). Psychologists and lawyers filled in 21 questionnaires.
The main cases concerned violence against women - from the side of husband, mother in law, son, daughter, etc.
Forms of violence are: physical, psychological, economical.
Mainlyl, the victims are women aged 35-55 years. Several facts of violence against men and the elderly were also revealed.
Beneficiaries used the services of Women Support Centers:
16 people received consultations from lawyer 29 addressed psychologists, joint consultation of psychologist, lawyer and conflictologist were given to 7 couples. There work was done with the traumas and the adolescents - 3 cases on a whole.
During 4 months, two women were given the status of violence victims with the help of the Fund “Sukhumi”. Two protective orders were issued with the help of lawyer-consultants and mobilizers of Women Support Centers.
Meetings with crisis families
Monthly meetings with representatives of crisis families continue. Six meetings were held in June. Among them is two new couples. Conflict situations are caused by different reasons. Duration of work depends on how effectively the parties can manage crisis situations. Consultations are also held with other couples during several months. The elements of stability are felt, but in order to overcome crisis, it is necessary to continue the work. Consultations of the conflictologist and psychologist, mainly concerned the correction of behavior and management of emotions.
