Youth theater performances

After the New Year holidays, the youth theater resumed its work. In January, puppet theater and forum theater performances were held.

A puppet theater performance took place in Kutaisi school No 2nd. Primary school students liked the performance, then they cheerfully joined the discussion - they talked about their favorite characters, friendship, and helping each other.

The Forum Theater presented a performance on the topic of migration in the city center. Some viewers were worried because... their family members are also emigrants, but noted that this is a pressing problem, and young people have the right vision...

Active December of the youth

The training course is actively continuing at the Youth Empowerment Centers. Young people get acquainted with new topics with interest, get used to individual or group work, and a culture of discussion.

The December trainings coincided with the information campaign “16 active days against gender-based violence”. Therefore, it was decided that all ten centers should be included in the campaign (Samtredia, Terjola, Vani, Bagdati, Senaki, Zugdidi, Tsalenjikha, Khobi, Kobuleti, Chokhatauri).

Young people started preparation in November and carried out all planned initiated activities on time: creative events, interviews, exhibitions, actions... They themselves were the authors and performers of all events. Teachers and representatives of the school administration were included in the organization as much as possible.

The young people of the Youth Empowerment Centers gained a lot of experience by actively participating in the campaign of this year.

Forum-theater performances in Zugdidi were dedicated to the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence against women.

The young actors played five scenes and each scene was followed by an interesting discussion. The audience mentioned that this is a very difficult topic and people can be better informed in this way.

Women noted:

"We obviously saw the mistakes we make in raising our children".

"We were brought up more strictly and we have already changed our attitude towards our children."

The scenes of the Forum Theater aim to raise awareness about the issues of gender-based violence in the IDP community.

Trainings of the six-month course are carried out according to plan. 5 trainings were conducted at the Youth Empowerment Centers of Chokhatauri, Samtredia, Senaki, Kobuleti and Terjola.

It was a discussion of actual issues, problems, group and individual work, which arouse great interest among young people. Parents and teachers of the participants attended the meetings. The active involvement of schools and families is a great incentive for us.

Our initiative should be mentioned - in new groups, together with trainers from the Women Fund “Sukhumi”, graduates conduct trainings on topics that are interesting for them. It has particular importance in our work.

Work with motivated youth

Trainings in Youth Empowerment Centers continue. After the first five meetings, trainings were held in of Zugdidi, Chokhatauri, Tsalenjikha, Bagdati and Kobuleti municipalities.

The members of the new groups are motivated young people. From participants of previous training course they know that the course is interesting and will help to develop their leadership skills. Therefore, they participate in trainings and take the initiative to use the acquired knowledge in practice. It is gratifying that representatives of youth departments are involved in the process of creating the groups, because they also welcome the formation of an active youth group in their municipalities.
