Meetings - in this category there is an information about meetings in frames of Fund “Sukhumi” projects - meetings with beneficiaries, representatives of state structures, local and international non-governmental organizations.

   

Memorandum of cooperation between the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Fund "Sukhumi" was signed on May 5.

The Memorandum defines conditions under which the parties will organize joint activities for the improvement of socio-economic status of women, full integration of IDPs in the local community, as well as support of democratic values ​​and achievement of gender equity.

By signing the Memorandum, the parties have identified the main directions of joint activities and their responsibilities.

 

 

Center of pre-school education conducted a meeting initiated by Ozurgeti GAC and Club of Voter Women on: “Protect Security of Children”.

The meeting was also participated by the representatives of local self-government, medical sphere, journalists.

They spoke about different aspects of violence regarding children, about identification of children according different needs. Meeting is the step forward on the way of establishing inclusive education.

There were raised important issues and were drafter the ways of their solution.

Under the support of relevant services of the City Hall on the initiative of Gender Advisory Counciltehre will be implemented different projects and activities for combating violence against children.

Gender advisory council is created in Tskaltubo municipality. It joins the people, who actively cooperate with the fund “Sukhumi”, participate in different trainings and meetings.

In Sakrebulo there was held the first meeting of the council. Chairperson of the council Georgi Dolidze spoke about the action plans for 2016-2018 for the activities in protection of women from violence.

Chairperson of Sakrebulo – Paata Akhaladze paid attention to the problems, existing in gender equality and mentioned that it is necessary to plan concrete actions in this direction. 

  

Ordinary meeting of Kutaisi GAC presented the participants information about the research of local gender needs. There were defined target groups of the research, functions and duties were allocated. After analyzing results of the focus-groups, in-depth interviews and inquiry, the GAC will elaborate recommendations and submit them to the local government for envisaging in the budget of next year.

In the next part of the meeting participants evaluated the conference, held in frames of the GAC project and spoke about activities, which are necessary to be held at the second phase of the project.

At the end of the meeting, representative of the city hall – Paata Kldiashvili presented the participants “Kutaisi Development Strategy”. Members of the GAC decided to be more actively involved in discussion of the document and establish gender components in separate activities.

Women's Support Centre continue co-operation with local authorities. Mobilizers visit Sakrebulo meeting, familiarize with government programs, with the information discussed at meetings and during mobilization meetings share received information with beneficiaries.

Mobilizers are actively cooperating with the authorities of villages. With their support the mobilization meetings are organized in the villages. For example, in April, the meetings were held in villages Komuli and Tskhaltubo (Tskaltubo Municipality) Teklati and Bataria (Senaki Municipality) and Gocha Jikhaishi and Kutiri (Khoni municipality).

Sakrebulo of Kutaisi hosted an informational meeting for the mandatory inclusion of local governments in the process of protection from violence. The organizer of the meeting - the Fund "Sukhumi", and the meting was led by representatives of the national anti-violence networks.

The goal of the campaign - presenting information on the local government level and taking necessary measures for the prevention of domestic violence and gender equality.

  

The first meeting in frames of Senaki Gender Advisory Council "Prevention of domestic violence in Senaki municipality" was held today in the hall of Sakrebulo. The meeting was organized for representatives of Gamgebeli and majoritarian MPs of fourteen territorial units of Senaki municipality. The event was also attended by the chairman of Sakrebulo Jumber Lashkarava.

Chairman of the GAC Nana Alania familiarized the participants with the project goals and objectives, as well as the statement of Gender initiative groups which will be  established in rural communities. Within the project, these groups will have special workshops on the topic of gender and domestic violence, which will help to raise awareness of the rural population.

Majoritarian MPs and representatives of Gamgebeli expressed their willingness to join the project and contribute to enhancing the role of women and youth in the processes of prevention of domestic violence.

The theme of the April mobilization meetings was the impact of violence on young people. Meetings were held in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and in two villages of Zugdidi Municipality - Khurcha and Koki.

The meetings focused on April 6 - International Day of sport for the benefit of youth and development. The conversation touched how important a healthy lifestyle is and how it relates to the prevention of violence.

During the meetings in collective centers there were again raised IDPs problems: unfavorable conditions, difficult social background, unemployment, migration, the problem of employment of young people.

Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council (GAC) started a new project "Strengthening of the gender aspects for active inclusion in the formation of local gender policies." The project is co-financing by Kutaisi City Hall and the fund "Sukhumi".

On April 21 in frames of the project a regional conference was held in "Grand Palace", on "Gender component in the local budget - the current reality, the positive developments, the prospects for the future."

The conference was attended by representatives of local self-government 17 municipalities of Western Georgia - Kutaisi, Batumi, Ozurgeti, Senaki, Zugdidi, Poti, Tskhaltubo, Khoni, Vani, Samtredia, Kharagauli, Zestafoni, Terjola, Tkibuli, Kobuleti, Chokhatauri, Lanchkhuti, as well as members of the GAC, rectors of universities, professors, students, representatives of NGOs and the media.

In the first part of the conference members of GAC of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Batumi and Senaki told about the results in terms of gender, achieved in cooperation with local governments.

In the second part the speakers discussed the topic of equality in different contexts. The conference was concluded with the report "Gender needs of students and their integration into the formation of the local budget."

The first phase of the project was completed. Discussions on the issues discussed at the conference will continue in Kutaisi universities.

Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council (GAC) begins to study gender needs. There were chosen target group for the inquiry as well as the respondents for the in=depth interview.

GAC members covered the groups whose needs are less reflected in the budget.

The inquiries  will be conducted with socially unprotected women, young people, ethnic minorities and women, engaged in small business. During the focus groups there will be fixed needs of IDPs, teachers, health workers, single mothers and mothers with many children. It was also decided to hold a focus group with community leaders to identify more problems. There will be selected experts in health, education, agriculture sphere and people with disabilities.
