Women's initiative groups of Kutaisi, Khoni and Tskhaltubo held informational meetings with the population on the issue of safety of women and inclusive approaches.

During the meetings, there were identified various types of problems, which are dangerous for women and their families. These problems have already been recorded in the action plans, and in cooperation with local structures the process of advocacy will start.

In April mobilizers of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Porti and Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality) Women Support Centers conducted informational meetings in local self-government, atted Sakrebulo meetings.
They also met representatives of social agencies and presented them information regarding activities of the centers. Free legal assistance and psychological consultations and collaboration in this direction was particularly mentioned.

In frames of the project of Khoni WSC “Informed women change the future” there were held 3 meetings in the villages of Khoni municipality – Matkhoji, Nakhakhulevi and Kukhi.

During the meetings the women presented information about a law against domestic violence, arresting and protective orders. Attention was paid to violations of women’s rights. Meeting participants learned about free legal and psychological consultations.

The meeting was followed by active discussion regarding frequent facts of violence against women.

The project of Tskaltubo Women Support Center "Knowledge will overcome the violence" has started

In frames of the project there was held informational meetings in the village of Tskaltubo and information booklets were distributed. These meetings help to inform villagers about the problem of violence against women.

Working groups of Batumi Gender Advisory Council (GAC) conducted meetings with representatives of Sakrebulo and City Hall on: joint projects, suggestions of the GAC for 2016 budget for integrity of gender issues, preparation for the planned meeting in Parliament.
By the words of self-government chairpersons, they are ready for collaboration. One of the issues discussing of which is demanded by the GAC is creation of gender commission or its integration in the activities of other commissions.
On the meeting there was planned conducting of two trainings for the staff of self-government on the issues of education and information regarding mechanisms of legal assistance of domestic violence victims.
Working groups worked on the issues of gender analysis of the budget and package of suggestions and recommendations, prepared by the GAC, which will be submitted to Sakrebulo for the beginning of the work on budget.

Informational meetings in Khoni, Koki and Kutaisi were devoted to the issues of gender violence reasons and protective mechanisms.

Most active in khoni were the boys. According to them the girls also should be involved in the discussion, in order to be aware in all issues.

According to Koki youth they began speaking on this topic at the meetings of the fund "Sukhumi" and now they freely make a reasonable conclusion.

The meeting held with the students of Kutaisi, began with brief information about the Fund "Sukhumi". Interactive showed that the topic for them is interesting and relevant

In frames of the project “we will overcome the violence with knowledge” there was held a training, where several participants were noted. One of them independently held informational meetings in the villages of Tskaltubo municipalilty.

Main topic of the meeting – domestic violence and protective mechanisms. Meeting participants received information about a law, programs of victims assistance. there were spread leaflets with information, whom to address in case of violence.

Ordinary informational meeting was held in Batumi IDP settlement. About 3000 families reside in 22 3-storied buildings. Most of them were resettled from Tskaltubo collective centers.
Unemployment was named as No 1 problem among the IDPs. They mentioned that with the reason of non-payment electricity and gas are often turn off. Lots of them have bank loans.
By the words of resident of the settlement – Jaba Beridze, last year there was a fire on their staircase. So the corridor needs rehabilitation. The residents ask local structures and Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation for help.

There are different opinions in society regarding the reform of IDP allowance. This issues was discussed during the informational meeting in Khoni, IDP settlement. Meeting participants received information about reform, about changes. They elaborated several recommendations, which will be raised in the Ministry for IDPs and resettlement.

IDPs residing in collective center of sanatorium “Menji” speak about their problems.
 Anti-sanitary is their number one problem. A cellar of the building is filled with groundwater, which causes a toxic smell. Sewerage system is amortized, there are cracks on the walls. Residents still have not received conclusion on the validity of the building.
According to Nanuli Maisaya ceiling of the seventh floor recently collapsed. In order to solve the existing problems the residents have repeatedly appealed to the Ministry of IDPs, but the problem is still unsolved and stay actual. Senaki Gender Advisory Council will be actively involved in addressing the problem.
