In Batumi, at a joint forum 74 people gathered, who represented the members of the Gender Advisory Councils (GAC) of Kutaisi, Senaki, Ozurgeti, Batumi and representatives of the local authorities of these cities and the Fund "Sukhumi".
It was a summary of two years activities of two projects of the Fund "Sukhumi". In frames of these projects were created GACs in four cities of Georgia with the support of Gender Equality Fund, UN Women and the US State Department.
Presentation of the work done, implementated projects, results and achievements, exchange of experience, assessment of local gender needs, objectives and activities of the GAC, prospects for the future, project ideas and initiatives, informal relations ...
In short, these two days in Batumi were interesting and important ...
The most important thing is that the effectiveness of GACs and their influence on the formation of local gender policies was clearly revealed.
At the end of the meeting it was signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation and creation of Gender Advisory Councils network in Georgia.

Review of changes in the law against violence, the role of local government in the prevention of violence and assistance of victims - these issues were discussed at a network meeting in Kutaisi, in the hotel "Riverside". The event was attended by members of the Gender Advisory Council (GAC), Kutaisi, Senaki, Ozurgeti and Batumi, as well as deputies of the City Council, representatives of the local administration and the City Hall.

Invited expert spoke about the changes in the law against violence, relating to the powers of local government.

What is the role of local government in the prevention of violence and assistance to the victim - in this regard groups developed suggestions recommendations.

According to participants, the meeting was informative and productive, and they have developed recommendations contributing to effective work for the prevention of violence and assistance of victims.

Fund "Sukhumi" organized a networking meeting of Gender Advisory Councils (GAC), of Kutaisi, Senaki and Ozurgeti in complex - restaurant "Grand Palace".

The meeting heard reports on the changes in the law on Gender Equality, a gender policy development in the regions, on the achievements and experience of GAC, cooperation with society and the role of the mass media.

In the final part of the meeting there was a discussion, and proposals have been developed for further work.

Mukhadjir – it was the name of activity, held in Tbilisi, in National Library of the Parliament, where the fund “Sukhumi” was invited (one of the organizers – Apparatus of the Minister on the issues of raising confidence and usage of Abkhazian Autonomous Republic). It was the memory of history, which caused great pain to the Georgian and Abkhazian peoples.
- We want to tell the Abkhazian, who celebrate the day that we were together in joy and in sorrow, and it always will be like this - it was said at the event.
The exhibition presented a unique photographic material. At the end of the event of Georgian-Abkhazian folklore.
According to organizers, the exhibition will also be held in other cities of Georgia.

 

 
November 26 – December 10 – 16 active days against violence towards the women
 
It is already 11 years that the fund “Sukhumi” in involved in annual informational international campaign against violence towards the women.
During 16 active days there will be held meetings with local and central structures of government, different groups of society. There will be held briefings, round tables, debates, films and discussions, performances of the forum-theatre.
According to calendar of the campaign, more than 100 activities will be held.

In February, two interviews were conducted with the inspector-investigator of the Poti City Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the head of Lanchkhut Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and inspector- investigators in frames of monitoring of the "Georgian Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence / against Women, Protecting the Victim and Helping them". To receive qualitative information, a focus group was held with the participation of representatives of the society and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There was also a demand for information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the statistics of the issuance of detention orders and violations. The purpose of these events is to identify the involvement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the implementation of the law.

Since the new year, the monitoring group of the Fund “Sukhumi” has resumed its work, which monitors the implementation of the Georgian law on the elimination of domestic violence / against women, the protection of the victim and the provision of assistance to them. The group studied the working version of the National Action Plan. Priorities and relevant departments were selected, according to monitoring topics and goals. The concept of work and the plan for 2018 have been developed.

As a result of focus groups, in-depth interviews and questionnaires with the subjects of the referral mechanism, the monitoring group will prepare a set of recommendations.

Mobilizers of the Women Support Centers of the fund “Sukhumi” took part in NGO conference in yui96u.
They familiarized with the directions of the NGO work and shared their experience with the colleagues from Azerbaijan.
The mobilizers are ready to establish new methodologies and experience, gained during the meetings in yui96u, in the work of WSCs.

On August 12, of 2000 the civilized world celebrated the International Youth Day for the first time. To this day there were dedicated mobilization meetings of Women Support Centers of the fund "Sukhumi" – in Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskhaltubo, Senaki, Poti and in the villages of Zugdidi Municipality - Khurcha and Koki. The meeting participants talked about the problems of youth, about the relationship between the generations.

This year, the Youth Department conducted various activities to mark the International Youth Day. Participants of the mobilization meeting noted that such events are important for the region's youth.
