On February 2, representatives of the Swedish women's organization Kvinna till Kvinna visited the Fund "Sukhumi": Elisabed Brandberg (regional manager for the South Caucasus) and Joanna Arkasen (field representative in Georgia.

The guests listened to the information on the fund's work and the results achieved. At the end of the meeting, they expressed their impressions.

The concept of the work of the information and advisory service

Information and advisory service of the fund “Sukhumi” has developed an annual plan for 2018 and a concept of work that includes: legal advice and counseling, meetings with a conflictologist, information meetings with young people, working with couples, representatives of crisis families and violence victims.

In January, the psychologist held individual consultations. Three sessions were held with one beneficiary. In the second case, the problem is diagnosed.

The issues discussed at meeting of Advisers’ Council

    

A regular meeting of the Advisers’ Council was held in the Sakrebulo meeting room. Members of the Council discussed the issues envisaged by the agenda: an analysis of the implementation of the goals and objectives of the social inclusion strategy of Khoni (based on the results of monitoring the 2017 action plan); highlighting the priorities of the social inclusion strategy for the 2018 action plan.

The meeting positively assessed the implementation of the 2017 action plan and presented interesting ideas for integration into the action plan for 2018, over which the Council members will work in the near future with the support of the organization "Reople in Need".

What should be the focus of the Council, in which issue it is necessary to strengthen the members of the Council so that the action plan is followed by its real implementation - an emphasis was placed on these issues.

Meeting in Terjola

Terjola is one of the new municipalities in which the fund “Sukhumi” has started intensive work since January in frames of the project "Strengthening of Women's Rights in Western Georgia". A meeting with representatives of local self-government was held. The fund staff familiarized them with the goals and objectives of the project.

Meetings are also planned in the local governments of Lanchkhuti and Ozurgeti. The work of the ffund will also spread in these municipalities - in parallel to those 6 municipalities in which many activities have been carried out in recent years.

Monitoring group resumed the work

Since the new year, the monitoring group of the Fund “Sukhumi” has resumed its work, which monitors the implementation of the Georgian law on the elimination of domestic violence / against women, the protection of the victim and the provision of assistance to them. The group studied the working version of the National Action Plan. Priorities and relevant departments were selected, according to monitoring topics and goals. The concept of work and the plan for 2018 have been developed.

As a result of focus groups, in-depth interviews and questionnaires with the subjects of the referral mechanism, the monitoring group will prepare a set of recommendations.
